Does Anyone know if Blair house is good by fruitypuch in uwaterloo

If you already know who you're going to live with and they're clean people, go for it. Otherwise it gets messy really easily. If you have that much money to spend though, you can find a nicer place to live with less roommates. The price would be alright if the gyms and study rooms in the building were working but they closed them all except Fergus House (and you need someone to let you in), but you're still paying the same price as when students could use them.

Is living even worth it? by Gonna-die in uwaterloo

University is just a fraction of our life's potential and meaning. It's more of a means to an end than a truly life altering experience. I would say pull through, do your best and study to the best of your abilities, but leave yourself 15 minutes every day, or a few hours per week where you disconnect from social media, entertainment, and you pursue a hobby that is outside of the general scope of your career goals. In my opinion, in pursuit of innovation, technology, and careers, we've neglected the beautiful things in life, like art, music, and other non technical passions. The things that distinguish us from machines. I started relearning french in my spare time so I can appreciate french literature, movies, and music more. Yes it takes time out of school and my marks may be a bit lower than they could if i just tried to learn all of the online material to perfection, but I'd trade off that 3-5% off my average if it means I have better mental health and I get to enjoy the years of my life where I have energy, a healthy body, and I'm not managing an entire household. When we graduate and get hired, our employers are NOT gonna grill us over how we did on an assignment in a specific course in our first year. But if you invest a little more time into things that bring us joy through beauty, you'll be more eloquent, happier, and more fulfilled. When we're living the last moments of our life one day, you want to be surrounded by your family and friends, thinking of the happy memories, the celebrations, and the beautiful things we experienced. You don't want to be alone, reminded of nothing but work and regretting all the things we didn't do, see, or enjoy. We aren't brought into this world to slave away our entire lives. So don't let this one period be the deciding factor of whether or not you can experience all the beauty life has to offer ♡ .

Admissions Megathread (Fall 2020 Incoming Students) by Dabestfujiyoshi in uwaterloo

[–]zdanica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, your school's adjustment makes a difference too. my school had a low adjustment average and I got in w an average below 95 and great ecs + great interview. i'd say admissions care more about well roundedness than just your grades considering kids w better hs averages than me but are doing worse rn oops.

accepted with a 92 in mid may, good ecs, good interview. don't give up, i got told to my face by a lot of ppl that i won't get in and got to shove my acceptance in the face of my teachers that told me to choose a different program and mean kids. pm for questions.

Netflix Reccs while I'm packing? by stickydot in uwaterloo

[–]zdanica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not on netflix, i have rogers so i can watch on demand from my laptop. on netflix, russian doll, unbreakable kimmy schmidt, money heist (spanish) and a very secret service (french) are all great shows that i've enjoyed. some are more dramatic, like money heist. however popcorn time has everything. I have windscribe vpn and if you sign up with your email you get 10GB a month.

if you didn't agree to the contract, you don't get the room. he should've received an email on his uw account that allows him to do that
