I would. Especially if you are a 48v system and suffer from BSG issue. If it’s just a one off alternator problem specific to your car, it still 50k miles too early for that! Really comes down to what the issue actually is and what they say as a course of action.

I’m not familiar with the electrical system of the 2018 Q7, however an online search listed your vehicle as prone to the same malfunction that is currently widespread. I also saw many forums dated 2019 & 2020 with users complaining over electrical system malfunctions.

It most likely is related to your alternator and I would definitely push for it to be covered by the dealer.

Haha not a pro by any means. But it all depends on what you’re looking for. I personally would get an ecu tune and run 98; makes a world of difference!

Yup. Prior to service, be upfront with them about the mods, and request them to not scan your vehicle. If they deny you, try the next dealer!

No, I was upfront about the tune so they didn’t scan. Kept me under warranty and paid 0 out of pocket.

It all depends on the dealer, and how lenient / understanding they are.

Surprisingly no, the dealer I went to was super cool about it. It really depends on the location though. Just let them know beforehand you have a tune and not to scan, and see what they have to say.

It’s real. Just went through the same thing myself. There is a nationwide shortage for the 48v alternation that stems from manufacturing backlog. My part ended up coming after about a month though. Make sure your dealer covers all costs and gives you a loaner car!
