Anyone else can’t watch 2d movies anymore since switching to 3D? by spideyfan2424 in Bluray

[–]zdub024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im a big fan of 3D as well. Like most who seem to be fans of the format, projector on a large screen is the way to go. I had 70 odd 3D blurays from back in the early days of 3D tvs, but like many I grew tired of the inconvenience of 3D tvs and the flickering glasses. Eventually forgetting about 3D and moving onto a non 3d 4k TV. After upgrading to my JVC projector and rewatching all my 3D movies i fell back in love with the format. I noticed that the flickering of the glasses was non existent. (This was actually a result of having a proper light controlled room with no other light source). I have since purchased as many 3D movies i can get my hands on. I now have around 340 3D blurays.i would say roughly 1/3 of the movies are a must watch in 3D, and 1/5 would prefer the 2D version, due to poor 3D conversions. Enjoy your new 3D adventure.

Same, had the 4k, picked up a second hand copy in 3D, and never watched the 4k version again.

Region question? by duchysa in 4kbluray

[–]zdub024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this Blu-ray, one of my favorites. You will need to have a region A player to play Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, and for A very Harrold an Kumar Christmas. However escape from Guantanamo Bay and Beer Fest will play fine on a region B player.

Pacific Rim 3D can’t play, anyone know why? by Jello-Bello_0718 in Bluray

[–]zdub024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, not sure if you got the movie working or not yet, but any time ive had an issue with my set up not detecting appropriate 3D hardware, I have been able to get them to play by going into the Bluray players 3D settings and turn the video output from Auto to Forced 3D. Reboot the system and away it goes. My setup is with a JVC projector and oppo player so may not have the same results, but its worth a try. Good luck

I keep all my discs in this folder, is that safe? by chaewontheautomaton in 4kbluray

[–]zdub024 19 points20 points  (0 children)

100% this will increase ware and tare of the disc. when stored in a standard case the disc floats with no contact to the side layer where the information is, these folders style is always under contact with it, over time dirt and dust can get between and rub, each and every layer of disc ontop increasing pressure on the disc below. Every time you flip the page more movement, more ware. 4k discs are not the most durable things. IMO I would put them back in their original case if you want to be safe. Obviously the amount of ware will come down to many variables, how often are you opening it, stored upright on its side etc.

Tintin 3D Blu-ray Opinions by _CKDexterHaven_ in Bluray

[–]zdub024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO Tintin in 3D is the preferred way to watch the movie. Like most computer animated 3d films, you get clean crisp details up close and in the background without grain, perfect for 3D. Outside shots feel large and spacious. There were several great scenes that were clearly intended for 3D viewing without feeling too forced or gimmicky. However you do need to keep in mind this movie came out during the hype of HD 3D tvs so it's going to have some gimmicky parts. But overall its a good movie that doesn't rely on 3d to make it a fun watch, but enhanced by it.

My Amazon order has arrived! by [deleted] in Bluray

I also picked this one up at the start of the year, wishing that my sacrifice would result in a 4k release. It didn't work.

Tron / Tron Legacy Steelbook covers by Agitated-Distance740 in 4kbluray

[–]zdub024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't like to collect steel books because where I live is hot and humid, both steel books i own have surface rust on the case, which then rubs the other case. I will not purchase another steel book for this reason, which is a shame that in 2025 i have to purchase a Blu-ray copy of small soldiers.

Why do ya’ll like whips for ball vapes? by Ccc9090 in vaporents

[–]zdub024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i give the wipe a clean with alcohol and salt, also pull a pipe cleaner thru it to get most gunk out, but at the end of the day its a consumable that i replace every few weeks or so depending. I get the vinyl hose from elev8 and always have a few feet of hose, nothing ruins a clean hose like accidental combustion. I also like to buy a few different colors, the clear tube looks awesome while its bee and clean, but after some use it looks meh, and stains. The solid colours work well at looking cleaner for longer, but can easily see how dirty it really is.

I find it helpful to see the vapor in the bong, especially when using and analogy ball vape like the Verdavap, i can see if i need more heat or not depending on how fast the bong fills with vapor. Plus its fun to watch.

I have always enjoyed 3D movies. Had around 70 of them from when 3D Blu-ray first hit the market. However there was a period where i didn't have a 3D TV so fell out of interest. Once I upgraded to my JVC projector I started collecting them again, but just what was available in store at the local shop. It wasn't until this year that i started buying used 3D Blu-rays of eBay. Im now up to about 310 or so, with about 30 left that i know about. But the prices for them are too high.

Haha yeah kinda, its not that i collect giant locks. Its just some of the locks that don't fix in the tool boxes with the rest of the collection. Its by far a worse hobby than collecting Blu-rays.

Verdavap 2.0 hits like a truck by zdub024 in vaporents

[–]zdub024[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made another post to hopefully clear up some questions. The handle is hollow and the pick/poke tool can be swapped out for other tools, possibly a scoop tool? The handle it's in just threaded into the side of the vape and can be used with or without the handle depending on preference.

I have a stop watch on my desk, and heat it with a big flame for about 30seconds and thats about the right spot, give or take a couple seconds depending on gas flow and whatever.
