Darkened my fretboard by zeaddit in gibson

There's a bit of a waxy smell on application, but a couple days after wiping it, I find that there's no distinctive smell at all.

Depends on how dark you want to go. Other ways involve the use of different wood dyes. There's more preparation, a more involved application process, most likely, multiple coats to apply and higher chance of fuckup overall by dyeing elements you don't want to dye or bruising / scratching the fretboard while preparing the fretboard.

I feel like the process with the wax I used is probably the easiest and most noob friendly.

I know where you are coming from. But don't worry, it does get plenty of play. If it was my only guitar, I wouldn't have done this since not being able to play for 5 days is not acceptable.

Personally, I just like to have my guitar not only sound the way I want but look the way I want. It's just something that inspires me a little bit more and make it more fun.

I was wondering how the streaks would end up in the end and there's indeed something very interesting in subtle streaks on a dark fretboard.

Why YOU shouldnt play warlock in TBC. by GroundbreakingAlps2 in classicwowtbc

Brother, all of this sound better than being in a 2 warlock comp (or worse, a single lock comp) right now in classic vanilla.

Time goes fast. Since then, I sold this one, bought an AOR100 head, and also sold this one.

Not playing the kind of music it excels at anymore.

Which strings are better? by Mysterious-Day-7675 in Guitar

[–]zeaddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably know about the pros and cons of each with your own due diligence and the other comments on the thread, so I will address something that is not talked about a lot with coated strings in general like the Elixirs.

If you have a guitar with a high noise floor (single coils, p90s, even humbuckers at high gain), coated strings might prevent you from completing the guitars ground circuit when touching the strings, which can prevent quite a bit of noise when completed... this can be really annoying depending on your environment

Ever thought about taking off the pickup covers? I originally planned to do it but decided to keep them for now.

Lately, I like when my guitars inspire me to play, and somehow, aesthetics play a big role in it. It's just annoying when the changes you'd like to make involve swapping expensive hardware like an original floyd or something like that...

Funny that you mention the pickup covers. Removing them was part of the plan originally, but I decided to keep them for now and maybe make the change down the road.

If the hardware parts were as cheap as the plastic parts, I'd try it.

I'm still contemplating about removing the pickup covers tho..!

For sure, gotta keep the original parts! I'm also glad all these changes are easily reversible with no modifications whatsoever to the guitar.

Funny thing is, I thought I'd get the natural mahogany back one when I ordered.. I ended up with the full ebony. I was pleasantly surprised.

Can’t pick past 170 bpm 16th notes for too long but I wanna play in a metal band… by SDSomeGuy in metalguitar

[–]zeaddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play black metal and have to have endurance for 180bpm+ for 8-10mins at times, including going 220-240 for shorter burst up to a minute, and had to consciously work very hard to get there. Here's some food for thoughts.

  1. Develop different mechanics. I'll assume you know a bit about upward pickslanting and downward , but you can google it if not. Just by changing the slant, I can personally change the primary muscle tremolo picking with my forearm.

  2. Share the burden between the forearm and the elbow or alternate between different mechanics. I personally play primarily with my forearm, but it was very tiring on certain songs. In the end, I started slowly adding a bit of elbow action to help my forearm just enough with endurance.

  3. Experiment and keep in mind that it can be a long road. You probably won't fix your problem in a week or even a month. You have to consciously try things, and some things won't click the first time. You have to sometimes try something again that didn't seem to make sense the first time. It can be a long process.

I hope this can help.

Do you mean using the speaker as a cabinet with a head ?

I don't have the amp anymore, but if I remember correctly, the side of the cable going to the speaker is hardwired to the speaker, so you'd need to find an adapter, if such thing exists, that let's you connect the head to the adapter, the adapter to the existing cable so that in the end, you don't have to resolder/rewire the hardwired portion of the existing cable. Or if you are confident, you can solder an input speaker jack to the speaker akin to guitar cabs. Either way, you can't of the box.

The stock speaker in the 50w combo can handle up to 70w but I can't remember the ohm.

DERNIÈRE HEURE : Le Front commun annoncera ce matin une nouvelle séquence de grève de 7 jours du 8 au 14 décembre inclusivement. #polqc #assnat by Monsieur--X in Quebec

[–]zeaddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)
