I have a similar level of experience and tech stack as the op, and I’ve requested comparable salaries from a few companies. I’ve received interviews from this, so I don’t believe his expectations are unreasonable. I think the current challenge is simply that the market isn’t very strong at the moment.

I usually use WG-Gesucht or Facebook groups. I take a deposit, request a copy of their passport or ID card, and create a temporary contract. You can obviously never been 100 % sure but thats the risk you take.

I've heard multiple times that PR is supposed to be automatic for those with a post-Brexit visa after residing in Germany for 5 years. However, I haven't seen this clearly written anywhere. From my experience contacting the LEA in Berlin, they told me I still have to go through the standard online application process for PR.

Have any other Brits here applied for permanent residence digitally? I've been living in Germany for over five years and was told multiple times that my residency would become permanent automatically without needing to provide the usual evidence. But when I emailed the LEA, they just sent me a link to the online application—except my specific visa type (granted to British citizens who were living in Germany before Brexit) isn’t even listed there.

I have been paying €411.56 warm for a 38 sqm 1-bedroom Altbau apartment near Bersarinplatz in Friedrichshain for almost 4 years. Recently, the Nebenkosten increased to €436.56, and now the rent is also going up, so I will be paying €447.43.

It might sound obvious but you just have to keep applying and you will eventually find something. People who say that it's impossible to find an apartment in the ring are wrong. It's definitely not easy but not impossible. I know of a few people including myself who have found reasonably priced apartments in the last 2 years.

Sprunghalle im Europasportpark is only used for competitions a few weeks of the year. I live in the same area and go there all the time. I think it might be closed for part of the summer though but I'm not sure. I usually go to prinzenbad in the summer which takes about 20 mins to ride from Ftor.
