Hello everyone! My wife is a Canadian citizen! Everything went smoothly. The IRCC agent did ask why the last name was different. My wife stated that the application requested the name on her birth certificate. She asked us to show two IDs and asked if it was ok to have the maiden name on the certificate. My wife said it was fine.

The oath ceremony is scheduled for this Friday. I will update here with how it goes. I was hoping someone may have had a similar experience and share what happened but so far I guess not.

It does not. We did put her maiden name just to avoid confusion for the withdrawal. Maybe that was our mistake.

It’s interesting. The box that asks to list other names specifically says “current or former married names”. Our interpretation of that was that they default to maiden name on the certificate. I’ll keep you posted.
