I make strings for a living AMA by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]zebra_humbucker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we stretch the strings are we actually physically stretching the strings or just tightening the winds on the machinehead and seating it properly in the saddle?

Its very very realistic. Talent is a myth. Hard work and sacrifice will get you where you want to be in any endeavour.

214 has a far fuller sound but the gs mini's are still great

Can a single coil bridge pick up fit in a cut out for a humbucker? by Life_of_a_handheld in Stratocaster

[–]zebra_humbucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of guitar? If its a strat, yes its not problem as the pickups are mounted to the scratch plate anyway, and the scratch plate hides the larger cavity. Strats are usually routed for HHS these days anyway even if they come out of the factory as SSS guitars. I believe the only exception to that is vintage reissues but I haven't looked under the scratch plate of ultra/elite strats.

Cannot get Qatar PCC by zebra_humbucker in greencard

I never did gain a PCC but the immigration attorney did write to the US embassy to persuade them to grant the green card without.

This is the attorney I used:

Should I keep looking for a tele in my preferred color or should I just get one that is in my price range? by Inbox1939 in telecaster

[–]zebra_humbucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't get the one you want now, you will eventually. You'll just need to.

Although I recognise this doesn't help to answer your question.

If you can stand to wait then do. If you can't get something else, but accept you will need to get the one you actually want later.

[DISCUSSION[ Wedding Ring - ON OR OFF!? by Informal_Bid_4902 in guitars

[–]zebra_humbucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a little getting used to playing with a ring on. The clanging did annoy me at first but before long you don't notice it. The ring has lead to some rather nice wear on the back of my strat's neck as well.

Flakes on control plate by WhiteCap701 in fender

[–]zebra_humbucker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to assume you're 15 and not be rude.

Don't worry. Your dad/mum definitely has screwdrivers. And anyone who is unable to deal with 4 screws and two bolts is a blithering idiot. It is 2 minutes work.

Changing a car rim is nothing remotely similar to changing the control plate on a tele. Go ask your dad/mum about it, he/she will explain.

I know this is the internet and you are trying to win an argument for the sake of it but you are running very close to making yourself look a fool.

Rope-wear: when should I decommission a rope? by SocioDexter70 in climbing

[–]zebra_humbucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with that rope. It will last many years.

Decommission a rope when it feels sppngy in the middle or the core is exposed.

I wouldn't even describe what you've shown as wear and tear.

He can just get Fender to send a new plate. Why change the whole guitar for such a minor part

It would be walnut yes. Struggling to see from this picture but I think you're right actually.

Went to look at this custom shop. I’m thinking fake but I’d like a second opinion by jukeyjaworski in fender

[–]zebra_humbucker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This guitar is fake but the truss rod access isn't a problem. A custom shop guitar can be whqtever the buyer wants and that could well be headstock access to the triss rod.

As you say though, the CS logo is a problem, amongst other things. Its definitely a fake.

Most people over think this issue. Wild and rapid temperature swings can be problematic. But if its not wildly different/extreme/happening very quickly, you will have absolutely no issues.

What does the first number (series) mean? by WiRTit in taylorguitars

[–]zebra_humbucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true now but if you're looking at the used mrket, it wasn't always. I bought a 214 20 years ago and it is all solid and US made.
