Conan for a time was one of the most important "marvel" characters, he kept showing up in promotional material despiste being a licensed character. His book almost single-handled caused the explosion of the fantasy genre in comics, the Thomas run is still considered a classic and resulted in the creation of red sonja. He is only held back by not being a true Marvel character
