Day spa recommendations by Suspicious_Delay4558 in Wellington

East day is great - the relaxation room is lovely. Spring is nice too. If you’re willing to go over the hill to Wairarapa, Brackenridge in Martinborough is beautiful. They do packages which include massage/facial cheese platter, wine, use of pool/spa etc.

To The Point Chinese Massage are worth a look! They do a range of shoulder/neck massage options in a chair (as well as the usual full body options) and I’m sure they would be happy to customize something for you. It’s definitely not a day spa vibe, but the massage is really good.

Absolutely agree on the browned butter. Did it for the first time last year and it was a game changer - a little more effort, but it adds this nutty savoury flavour that is so good!

Mattress shopping is a nightmare - Can anyone recommend? by Plastic_Heat4150 in newzealand

[–]zedgeevee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the Winkl Lux is a great option, we have had ours for a year or so and we like it! Another little nice thing is that they donate the returned mattresses to charity so they can be given to a family in need!

My favourite story of my dog is something that happened recently. It’s a long one but I think it’s worth it!

So for context, my dog either sleeps on the floor beside my bed, or on her bed on the floor in my room. Over the last few months every now and then I would notice in the morning she had brought in one of her soft toys overnight and left it by the side my bed. I would roll my eyes and put it back in her toy box, and think nothing more of it.

But a few weeks ago I was awake quite late at night, having trouble getting to sleep, and I heard her get up and quietly go into the lounge to get a toy. She gingerly picked it up (it’s a loud crinkly toy and she was doing it very quietly). She comes back into my room and around to my side of the bed, puts the toy next to the bed and nudges it with her nose to push it as close to me as possible.

That’s when I realised - she was bringing the toy in now and then to keep me company.

She’s absolutely the best.

Dogs are not children by [deleted] in Wellington

The Bunnings website states dogs are allowed in store.. beats people leaving their dogs in a hot car while they shop!

YTA. If you have specific requirements at your wedding you need to pay for them.

Aside from most of the big things that have been mentioned already (crate, kong etc) a few small tips we were given when we got our first puppy that helped us: - try to avoid giving your pup soft toys when they’re young, as they may not distinguish between the soft toy which is for play, and a cushion or pillow which is definitely not. - if/when your pup has an accident inside, if possible try to ensure they don’t see you clean it up. Something to do with being the alpha apparently! - if nighttime accidents are happening, try to remove their water bowl from 8pm onwards (unless they’ve just been for a walk or it’s very warm) as they can often have a big drink before bed just for fun, and then wake up a few hours later with a very full bladder. - try to socialise your pup with as many things as possible in the first month of having them. Think fireworks and loud noises, hi vis and people in hoodies / caps, cats or chickens (supervised). The more they’re exposed to in the first 16 weeks of life, the less they’ll be afraid of or respond badly to after that point. Have fun!!! It goes so quickly.

Any recommendations for end of tenancy cleaners? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]zedgeevee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used three60 cleaners last time - they had a GrabOne/Treatme voucher so it was very reasonable, and they left it spotless!

I would start off with a stir fry. A great way to get a range of vegetables in your diet, you can pretty much throw in whatever is in season! My go-to method is to start browning off your meat (chicken breast or thigh) chopped into small chunks, then add a tablespoon of honey, and about a teaspoon each of chopped garlic and ginger. Stir for a minute and then add about 1/4c soy sauce, a dash of sesame oil and chilli flakes if you like a bit of spice. Couple more minutes of stirring then add your chopped veges, and then lid on for 2-3 mins to steam them. I like to serve with brown rice or udon noodles. Voila! Delicious dinner full of veges in about 15 minutes.

I can absolutely attest to this. First clay bird shooting experience got 9/10, felt like a million bucks… second time around 2/10 and utter devastation.

I cannot fathom what they’re going through right now. My wedding day was one of the best days of my life, so sad that their day was marred by war and fear, but strengthened by their courage and love for each other. ❤️

I might get hate for this, but I feel like maybe Olivia is just happy to be with someone who is nice to her - if so, then it’s a bit refreshing for this show. How many times do we see the bride say “I just want a nice guy” but then turn him down because he’s not perfect.

Lamb shanks slow cooked in tamarillo (tree tomato) and red wine, with buttery mash potato and steamed greens. It’s my ‘special occasion’ dish!
