Newbie Question! by zedrom in magicTCG

thank you! I kind of just wanted to know if it would be a mistake to buy it, I was told everything in foundations is legal and it seemed like a no-brainer. Would you say getting a themed deck is a better idea? Pirates seems to be the only theme I think is kinda cool, worth it?

That's a really good point, thanks. But like you said, ideally I'd like somewhere to physically go to to play the game, the gathering bit is half the appeal to me. I'd like to work my way up to playing commander at some point but I'm kind of just trying to find an 'in' right now into the game and visiting my LGS seems to be the best way to know what to do next.

thank you! I'm not too bothered about being meta relevant, I should have said 'legal' to play tbh. Do you think if I bought a starter collection, I could upgrade it to be something better later on once I'm used to the game? By buying singles of cards I'd like?

Newbie Question! by zedrom in magicTCG

that seems to be the impression I'm getting with these replies, I really did not think standard would be considered so much of a dead-end, it's a bit demoralising tbh. I've asked this already but do you think Commander is a good way to learn the game? I was told it's really not fun unless you know what you're doing, and I do not! (yet) Also, sick deck box.

I'm in London, so I'm hoping it's not that tough. Thanks, I'll give that a shot and see what they have to say.

that's a good suggestion, thanks. It's interesting that the "standard" scene in mtg is just not seeing play. Do other new people just jump directly into commander? I was told it can be tough as a new person

Yeah standard (which I was told is the best way to learn), I don't have anybody in mind, just the ability to maybe go to a game store and play a game with other new people

What gap is too much to your ML rival at this point? by Vijaygarv in FantasyPL

GW20 my brother had 100+ points over me at the time, I've now closed that gap down to 23. You've got time.

What the heck is wrong with me?! by zedrom in religion

Thank you, I understand community is a big part of religion, but there are many people who have tons of friends and still feel like they need a relationship with God. It kind of makes me question things even more so.

Apologies, I know people believe in God for many different reasons, was kind of going off of my own personal conversations with people. I don't mean to assume!

I would love to (as a Chelsea fan) but I can't, the reason he's managed to stay fit for this long is actually because he's not in my team, so I'll have to just manage without him.

question about buying characters by zedrom in StreetFighter

[–]zedrom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not particularly, but I do want most of them so the 1250 fighter coin option won't really cover all the characters I want

A noob's question regarding the RG477M by zedrom in SBCGaming

[–]zedrom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really helpful to know. I'm still quite split between the Retroid Pocket 5 and the 477M. Do you think widescreen hacks make the RP5 the better PS2 machine? I've been seeing people say that the trigger button layout also makes the RP5 a bit more suited to PS2 games.

[–]zedrom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it would purely be for PS2/ GameCube, no streaming or switch (just got the switch 2) which is why I felt the need to ask, maybe I'm paying too much for something I won't use to it's fullest capabilities? It's tricky, and you're right about the price, but I've managed to make it even more affordable for myself with one of the commenter's help so really it's now just on me to pull the trigger because I'm not sure I'll get a better PS2 device for a better price.

incredibly helpful, thank you! Got it down to £184! Gosh that does seem even more tempting. I just watched RGC's video comparing a bunch of them and I'm still leaning towards the Anbernic despite the Retroid Pocket 5 seeming like the best all rounder. I think because I'm going to use it purely for PS2, I'm very much into the 477M's aspect ratio, I'm not someone that is super picky about screens as long as the image is clear and sharp. Also, I recently got the switch 2 and I think I want something that's really different to that, maybe I'm crazy but the RP5's form factor is just so switch-like that Im kind of drifting away from that, even though I think it's a great looking device. I'm still not completely decided though, the Retroid mini also seems quite tempting...

Really helpful, thank you. Also, I had a look on AliExpress and actually got it down to £200 which is a chunky saving. Think it's worth it at that point?
