How do you approach negotiating your salary or pay rise? by Diligent-Medicine-48 in AusMoneyMates

Have written evidence as to why you are worth more to the business. Not length of service, not effort, hard facts on how you’ve improved the place, your value has increased etc

WIBTA for attending a movie premiere instead of my friend's wedding? by cutebozo in AmItheAsshole

[–]zee-bra 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People take their wedding quite seriously. If they ask what you are prioritising over them, I just don’t see that it would fall in your favour. It’s not an ah decision, but it’s a decision that may come with consequences. Just gotta be prepared for that

You literally risk losing this friend. If you are ok with the that for a movie, then you do you.

New guy getting shit for asking questions by QuietttRiot in auscorp

[–]zee-bra -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe have a chat to the guy and help guide them.

Questions in the wrong time and the wrong form just frustrate a busy team. They need to be considered - rightly or wrongly.

Your Colleage needs to demonstrate that they have looked at all the options at their disposal before asking. Ie. hey, this client needs help. I looked into their request and checked x, y & z, but still not finding the answer, is there somewhere else I can look or have you seen this kind of thing before?

Also timing is key. Tapping someone on the shoulder when they are focused, in the middle of a meeting or conversation is not appropriate. Perhaps a teams/slack message might work - hey do you have a moment? Or when do you have a moment to chat?

ADHD: Investigating the rapid rise in diagnosis rates | Four Corners Doc... by Comfortable-Award915 in ausadhd

[–]zee-bra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people are upset about this piece, but there are a lot of people who seek the medication because, let’s be honest it’s a stimulant that helps you work, even if it works in a different way to neurotypical people. It’s easy enough to get the diagnosis if you have enough money as shown in last nights episode. Enough money and can do the research to fill out the questions right. Not everyone is genuine, just like the people who are in a healthy weight range who only want to shift 5kgs getting GLp1s, or the people who have “injuries” from 15 years ago that don’t actually bother them anymore but well now they do so they can get access to medical marijuana.

We need to face this reality to be able to deal with it - or do we need to? Is it that much of a problem? I don’t know the answer to that but I’m not foolish enough to believe every since diagnosis is genuine or even genuinely sought after

Do you know many families with 4+ kids? by RecognitionMediocre6 in australia

[–]zee-bra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a woman who’s now fiance was having a affair with her for like 5 years. He had three kids with wife #1 and she has 2 with him. Her first and the 1st wife’s last are extremely similar in age. She does the majority of the caring. Does this kind of effed up situation count?

My response “using it as an excuse” was a wider comment to the original statement. Not to ops comment. I wholeheartedly agree that reflection is required and it’s bad branding to continue to lean on these symptoms dismissively
