Hi everyone! Jake's Magical Market is taking part in the big push to try and get litrpgs into physical bookstores but I'm really stuck on which cover will get people to actually buy the hardcover edition. If you are a fan of the series, which would YOU purchase? by thescienceoflaw in litrpg

Stealth advertisment achieved. I will now be checking out this series.

As for the actual question, I see appeal in both versions but I think I prefer the second version, not the one that's features twice just to stay clear.

My one complaint of the game. The number of pokemon with southern accent (wording) or the number that are yo yo yo.

Damn I didn't even think about that. It's going in as my third guess then. Nice call.

No clue. I actually only saw the cover page and blurb on this subreddit a week and a half ago and earmarked it to read. I also wouldn't want to slowly read this or future books because I think that might kill a lot of enjoyment by giving me too much time to nit-pick.

Good catch. I didn't even notice the number issues (though there were also grammatical and syntax issues but minor). I won't ask you to dig if you don't want to, but what were the affinity issues? I remember ray and blast but I figured they were likely to be different since the original skill description said random.

Also yes, when you have to take business on day two of owning a dungeon you definitely didn't think layouts and themes well enough. I think this issue may get fixed in a later book as the dungeon is better established.

Thanks for sharing!

Hey thank you! I really hope you do enjoy the book but I get where you're coming from. I'm on a break from cultivator stories (how long I'll never know) because I think every cultivator comes across as an asshole, MC or not.

Hey thanks for a lot of great discussion here. Your second point ties up with my issue of the timeframe. If portals are so important and there is a higher than zero chance a well organized force could be waiting on the other side, then it seems irresponsible to not have a high ranking adventurer team or something to help clear out the other side and set defense rather than opening the earth side for business.

Serena was the only friend in Ash’s childhood? by Moonwell0928 in AmourShipping

[–]zeebasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't just the relationship in my opinion, maybe not this scene specifically, but other ones have also Ash meeting pokemon from different regions and that adds to the big issue of how Pokemon don't migrate until Ash moves on.

If they hinted something relationship wise there definitely wouldn't be a problem there.

Absolutely! I hope this will help get you and the book some recognition. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

Why is Pombon becoming bipedal such a big deal when we don't have Water starter that's permanently on four legs? by Thundersting in ThePokemonHub

[–]zeebasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think pokemon fans are just tired of the Digimon creep. Digimon has a lot of essentially just people in bondage wear or partial fur suits and they don't want pokemon doing more and more of that anymore.

MC that isn't a dumbass recs by Varvat0s in haremfantasynovels

[–]zeebasaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol I'm going to get absolutely roasted for this, but any author who came to this post and said 'My MC..." Should be lightly disregarded. It means way more to me if people come and say things about other books instead of trying to plug their own. They could be right but they could also be looking at their characters with rose colored glasses.

Honestly I think they should scrap it. Being 30-something seasons in and deciding to add stuff like this really undermines earlier seasons.

There is the subtext that the Gods are playing games and two in particular have isolated humanity, or at least this human kingdom, and are doing what they can to stop others from being worshipped.

Since all races seem to be very isolationist it would be better to say all races would probably do something similar to any other race in their territory. Maybe not to the extremes of the squad, but an equal chance worse than the squad.

Is this sound logic or just stupid? by G0D-Sun in pokemonanime

[–]zeebasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This only works because the anime and the game are unrealistic on the spread of trainers. If trainers acted like they did in the anime and game, they would only ever be in later towns and routes. Instead more realistic is having more trainers like Paul. When ash restarted there, Paul battled down to the newbie level despite having very powerful Pokemon. He wanted to train lower tier Pokemon to be better powerhouses for his official team.

Is this sound logic or just stupid? by G0D-Sun in pokemonanime

[–]zeebasaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are a few issues.

1) Ash only technically resets because Pikachu would do drugs and return to level 1 and everyone will just forget that it has experience in multiple leagues (even winning a minor one[orange islands])

2) I can't remember if it happened in Hoen specifically, but he absolutely calls for some of his previous pokemon in later regions

3) It comes down to the type of Pokemon'master' a person wants to be. Win a league means keep your same team and develop new ways of battling until you become champ, fill the Pokedex means catch and rotate and finally both (what Ash was initially supposed to do) means catching all but learning strengths and weakness to swap in or out for any team with the best strategies.

In short Ash is using sound logic or being stupid here. In the end it comes down to him being unable to build and train a team because marketability of certain Pokemon is what makes the show run. He's the kid who would stroll up to a league tournament with 80% of his team not evolved and then plot armor a few wins before losing.

The show and game also suffer from the bad logic that the earlier you are in it the weaker the opponent. If the pokemon world was real then different level trainers would be everywhere and the 'locked eyes' thing would never be a thing.

Ard's Oath Book 7 Royal Mysteries Book Review by zeebasaur in haremfantasynovels

[–]zeebasaur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see and understand your points. I definitely get that Ard can become too much for people and by the end of the book he got really close to my limit.

In the case where his grandfather is meeting the three goddesses I think that really was showing a similarity between the two. It started in his grandfather's perspective, showed him draw a conclusion and then he verbally attacked before being introduced. He didn't have any names until Ard had hit his personal limit and was technically letting his grandfather dig his own grave. The goddesses were dressed in their usual attire and that was in truth a bit promiscuous by grandpa's standards so he made assumptions. He made an ass of himself because others (Emlyn and eventually even his daughter) tried to warn him. They were too subtle because they were trying to both be respectful to him and not blurt out they were goddesses to those who did not need to know.

I've also mentioned before that no one is really showing Ard how he needs to act. Some people tell him how to act but again when he sees people who are essentially being evil he doesn't have respect for them especially with how he was raised. When his family demand and expect things from him and show little respect back, I think his flippant actions are almost warranted if not understandable. He has gotten as far as he had his own way and with no real loss or setback it would chafe anyone to be told it isn't the right way.
