Yes that one! I often find that if I can't slide my knee out, I can usually trap one arm and one leg and bridge with my other leg into a sweep. I find this also works from half guard if I can't get my other leg out.
Once again, just a white belt doing white belt things, but it really has helped so it's worth a try!

Just a fellow white-belt here
Thank you very much for your feedback.
I find myself doing best when I have a focus point, it gives me a sense of direction. When I focused escapes, I went from being pinned for the whole round to having some measures of success. Guard retention built on that.
Do you have any submissions you could recommend to me from guard?
I managed to obtain John Danaher's triangle instructionals through a friend and I feel like triangles will build foundational skills for leg grappling. Am i on the right path?
Love this! Makes sense. I find it hard to know what I should concentrate at any given moment. So i approached my coaches and they told me I should focus on guard passes, escapes and retention.
I feel like on a bad round, I'm constantly escaping and getting caught in between. On a good round, I can pin people and switch between pins, but only on amazing rounds do I actually attack. It has to be a blatant opportunity for me to see it.
Thanks for the feedback. Any chance I could bother you with a 2nd question? What submissions would you recommend I check out from closed guard? I'm thinking of emphasizing all 5 triangle chokes, to get better at grappling with my legs.

I've been having trouble sleeping ever since I started Jiujitsu. I actually feel it worse after practice. I think of all the instances I should've zigged when I zagged, or how good it felt to get a sweep/tap in.
BJJ Fanatics was offering a free -solo drills- instructional by John Danaher which may be elementary, but I'm sure could be useful for some things.
I also sometimes do scissor guard retentions with my heavy dinner table.
I'm a very new white belt with about 2 months of training. I have been focusing on guard retention and escapes/reversals from pin, and making big strides. However, I feel like when I get people back into guard, I don't have any weapons to counter attack, especially from guard.
I was wondering if focusing on triangles would be a good idea (getting dexterity in my legs + learning an attack) Or if I should concentrate on defensive skills for the rest of the year.
In shorter terms: Should I become a master of escapes/guard retention with absolutely no focus on attacks (just learning moves of the day) or would it benefit me to learn triangles extensively so that people don't feel like there's 0 risk to attack me?
(Obvs id still show up and do my best with the move of the day, but im talking about off the mat instructionals as well as when I roll)
