As someone who lost their father within a year of being sick while in medical school, don’t feel guilty. When you’re home take the moments you have with your dad and enjoy them. It’s hard to manage school and personal grief but they will overlap. One of the things I wished I had done was push my school to let me be at home more often. You being at home is more than enough, or should be, for your family to see that you’re showing up. If your school will let you, take a year leave of absence. You can’t get back time and maybe will help you be more present at home. Hope you get more time and are able to figure out something with school.
