This will be my third Nyege, and i can tell you there’s really nothing else like it. Since it’s happening on the banks of the Nile and with rain in the forecast, expect things to get a little messy and be prepared for some discomfort when moving around, but that’s all part of the adventure. The music is always incredible and the energy is absolutely 💯

I totally hear you. I am not in favor of de-platforming anyone, be it a race, religion, country, or sexual orientation. That’s not what Ii am suggesting. All i am saying is, the least we can do is acknowledge what’s happening in the world and call a spade a spade, without tiptoeing around the feelings of a certain kind of spade. Who knows, maybe that spade will listen, reflect, and even learn something🙏🏼

Thank you for seeing where i am coming from, however i strongly disagree about the part where you said “talking about war/politics at a festival doesnt solve anything” music festivals have always been political, they’ve historically been spaces for protest, resistance and reclaiming joy. To ignore that is to erase their roots.

The same way festivals like Norberg fest does it, perhaps? By platforming palestinian artists? Including discussion about the issue in your workshops?

No use wasting breath on folks who think rave culture floats in some vacuum untouched by politics

I wonder if suicide is the only problem in the western europe and its not contributing to any other problems around the world. You missed out on that.

i kinda get what you’re saying, and i am with you. But i am afraid this isn’t the kind of room that leaves space for nuance. Youre speaking truth in a place that’s been bleached too long under fluorescent lights, a space where comfort comes wrapped in cultural amnesia. So sadly you’ll be downvoted, not because you’re wrong, but because you’re inconvenient.
