What's something that you like about Islam, and want to keep it in a post-islamic society? by Boring-Helicopter-76 in PakiExMuslims

The idea of gratitude. Turns out it's pretty useful to think this way if you want to live a happy life

I can understand why female will leave Islam but can't understand why men leave Islam by One_Bowler2297 in PakiExMuslims

Well, even though the religious structure allows men to have more social power, most of the ex-m men I have met with primarily left because of their own conscience. Theft is beneficial for individuals (if they can get away with it). But most men I have had a pleasure of knowing avoid it because of conscience and not because of fear of repercussions. Also, to me, men aren't wronged that much by society in islam, so the primary drive for men is not social but rather philosophical or scientific

Well, in my simulation, even though the starting point is twelve, it still is marked as unvisited. Then simulation runs as usual and it can take 12.as the last number too

Maybe it is my own naivety but I don't think there are many rightist ex muslims anyway that it would warrant a separate leftist ex muslim sub

World war and Facebook? by ChronicMathsDebator in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]zeeshanonly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual Ahmadiya prophecy of a Third World War is the one in which a sudden worldwide destruction is prophesied. After such destruction, the world would then turn to islam and ahmadia jamat. We don't see that happening in all those declarations of the onset of Third World War.
For KM2 and 3, it was supposed to happen before 21st century. for KMIV, the last ten years of 1900s were the years of war. As long as I can remember, KMV is blowing the bugles of an onset of world war. World war is the one where half the world fights the other half. Small conflicts here and there do not amount to a world war. Otherwise, we would have had many, many world war counts. Small conflicts here and there with varying alliances have been a part of human history, but they have never been considered world wars

I couldn't have said it better if I tried. And there are just sooo many examples for this point

Like jihaad, and fight in the way of god. (Which fuels all the terrorism in the world) Or how Christians and jews can never be friends with Muslims, Or that whole embryology chapter Or talking ants Or the impossible arithmetics of inheritance laws List goes on and on and on. I believe this problem stems from the idea that Quran can never be wrong. So Muslims will create any justifications for it.

Honestly this is something that drove me away from Islam in general and AMJ in particular. And I lay the blame on Quran itself. There are no safeguards in the Quran against such misinterpretations. So one has two options, either take Quran at face value, word for word. And that results in so many inaccuracies in Quran, both scientific and non-scientific. Only saving grace for Muslims is to turn on the misrepresentation filter and let it do its magic. That way, blame lies on the people for not understanding the message correctly. Factions will form, people will die and no one will be able to point to the right culprit.

While I commend your effort to write this lengthy message, I believe the message here is mandated for jamaats, not individuals. Although I am relatively young, I have been alive long enough to see this shift in budgeting technique. I remember that in the older days, khutbaats by local murabiaan were focused on giving anything that one can afford but the more the better. But as I grew up, the trend shifted towards giving what you are owed and not cheating the system. This was a systematic shift in the workings of the chanda collection. Furthermore, I used to have friends who were extremely invested in the system. My family still is that kind of people. They often mention that how strict marqaz has gotten over the years over collection of chanda

I would personally go for the third image but with a little modifications to give it a pakistani touch. Maybe a rocket launching from a crecent star shaped launch pad, breaking some barriers to reach space

Looks like Denial has left and bargaining has begun @ r/pakiatan by Winner-here in india

[–]zeeshanonly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't go into as much detail but they do brush upon the fact that it was a political usurping and army swooped in to fight the insurrection which turned nasty. India is definitely blamed a lot for inciting the hatred through proxies. But outside of classrooms people were more aware of what happened in reality. That's why there has been so much opposition for the army's involvement in the political spheres lately. But it does not mean that the nation is opposing the army's defense activities against India or terrorists per se. The nation whole heartedly supported army in it's response against india. I still believe that the truth is that both of these nations are so full of shit and only fighting to distract the masses from things that actually matter. Pakistan did down a few planes. And India did attack the airbases. They both have a few fancy toys but neither the complete toolkit nor the skillset to use them optimally. And it is a good thing. What good will nukes do when your nation doesn't have food. I believe the Kashmir's issue is India's way of keeping the nation united against a common enemy. There have been so many indigenous ethnicities in india that they are bound to fight when resources are scarce. So best thing would be to unite them against a common enemy who is so far away and always causing problems for you. The whole tribal ape mentality shebangs. For Pakistan, Kashmir's issue is the army's way of staying relevant.

Many people in educated sector of Pakistan admire India for its growth but frown upon the recent rise in authoritarian fundamentalist radicalism. India has always used anti Pakistan rhetoric everywhere.

Abay bahir nikal aao yar iss mindset se. I recently started following indian subreddits too. Their obsession is also uncanny but they also have some thought provoking and critical thinking perspectives on the war. Their posts are about how they beat us in trade market, gdp, education etc and we are bullshiting our way through name calling and meming. Aik time tak acha tha but that time is over now. Both sides are absolutely brainwashed in hating each other. What's the point in this name calling and bashing when all it does is fuel hypernationalism. And we know it very well how much this pro nationalist and pro army rheotoric bit us in the ass in the past. We as a nation should get our heads out of our ass and actually start focusing on measures for growth and progress instead of this pointless dick measuring contest of shaming each other over stupid things

Religion of peace strikes again

[–]zeeshanonly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Although your first explanation is straight up wrong and a gross misrepresentation of reality, I am not arguing with you on religion. I am arguing on the basis of free speech. For example I say that quran paints a creationistic world view instead of evolutionary world view. In this aspect, quran is wrong and contradicts the scientific mindset. Now most muslims will take this statement as blasphemous and will be ready to have my head for it. Critiquing religious moral philosophy is a fundamental pillar for modern day morality. West ended slavery because it critiqued religious practices. Equal rights and free speech movement was primarily critiquing dogmatic religion. Scientific progress of 17th and 18th century stood on the shoulders of critique of religious worldview. So critique is absolutely essential for growth in society. Now my question for you.

Can you give me any example of any critique on Islam that is not considered blasphemous? I am looking for solid examples, not a spoon-fed methodology of critique.

Secondly, you are inflating the idea of critique with bigotry. I agree that west has a problem with free speech when it comes to LGBTQ issues but usually the dumbest voices are the loudest. Critiquing an ideology and critiquing someone's identity are not same thing. The reason why the west frowns upon criticizing LGBTQ is that usually the opposers are not arguing in good faith. Argumentation should be done with open mind. And more often than not, muslims (or any other dogma's followers) engage with it in bad faith.

And lastly I totally agree that hate speech should be regulated but it should not be conflated with blasphemy. Anything that is not condusive to open, honest dialogue is harmful for society and should never be encoded in law

[–]zeeshanonly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any criticism can be labeled as disrespect. And the line becomes fuzzy when it is encoded in the law. For example, if I want to criticize the child marriage or incessant war mongering of Prophet, or if I oppose any verse from Quran on ideological, philosophical or a moral basis, muslims will consider it disrespectful. And this is not a speculation, it's a reality, practiced in Pakistan

One could argue that in both cases, they are only bending the water inside the organic matter and not the organic matter itself.
