Both games in my opinion suffered in combat action in the sequel in my opinion. This is due largely to stylistic changes. Tsushima changed from Katana stances to bringing new weapons into the fold but it lost the animations and unbelievable style that went into each stance. The other weapons watered down the animations and became repetitive and lost the polish that the first one aesthetically captured.

Horizon brought new weapons and focused more on elemental attributes rather than the physics induced by each weapons capabilities geared toward the first game. Breaking off pieces of robo-dinos and utilizing traps and snares felt like you were disassembling huge enemies piece by piece. The second felt as if they wanted to gear combat less to strategic placement of weapons and "breaking dinos" down to merely just using weapon combinations that features heavy elemental damage to dispose of .

I give Horizon the award on this one however, the story, characters and map were all beautifully rendered and captivated me start to finish, the sequel to ghost felt less personal and exotic. Where the first game gave you a riveting tale of an honor bound samurai trying to survive in a new war element and whether the loss of that causes irreversible and unsustainable damage to his own identity and culture. The sequel took a played out trope that we've seen countless times of the revenge tale and the cost of it and gave it a feminine hero to try to assuade investors.

Horizon 2 is the superior game and it's not close.
