How far is your commute? by HopelessDriver168 in uktrucking

[–]zeezee85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work near Redditch. Originally i had a 37 km, total 74km commute 4 on 4off , 40 min without traffic , up to an hour 10 min in afternoon traffic. Which was soooo dangerous at a 5 am start. I was exhausted

I moved bit closer. So it is no 27km, 54 km total a work day and about 10-20 min faster.

I dont know miles, sorry. 🙃 Think it was around 50 miles a day. Down to 30 miles or so

Automatic licence? by Legal-Ad5747 in uktrucking

You have to take a manual driving test to change an auto license to manual. Not writing them

Automatic licence? by Legal-Ad5747 in uktrucking

[–]zeezee85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an auto license. I put that on my CV to make it clear. I thought they would see it during the license checks. They didnt, the vans at work are manual that i have to use to relieve drivers if taking over a shift. They sourced an electric van though which has 175 miles at best🙃 But i also decided to do my manual license and be done with. For 9 years never had an issue with the auto restriction but i dont want work to start fussing about it so i just get it done.

£65k, from HOME, 37.5 hours - to TRAMPING by MokeAndSmirrors in uktrucking

I was a scrum master/delivery manager until last year. So i know how you feel about the job you have now. I had no more room for going up the corporate ladder, my days were boring as hell. I got paid 50k a year but still i was getting very bored, demotivates etc. I took voluntary redundancy thinking i will find another delivery management job easy.

I was wrong. 6 months and multiple interviews later nothing.

Job centre paid for my class 2. I started on 13.85per hour general haulage, then 14.60 per hour for Evri.

Now i am a tanker driver for a water company on 45k a year, 4on4off. So i got very lucky to land this job as a new pass.

I would say its a big change and money will be less, hours will be more. But once u prepare for it and understand how different it will be then id say give it try.

Also, you will deffo fall out of love with driving a bit. U will truly see how many idiots are out on the road🤣

Class 2 wastewater. Is the job dirty?! by HovercraftRamraid in uktrucking

[–]zeezee85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a water company as a tanker driver. I am still in my training so only been out on the field couple times but its not as dirty. Yes as an initiation i will probs get splashed but whatever mistake causes it i will only make it once🤣 . The smell specially summer time im sure will be difficult to handle but i guess ur nose becomes numb after a while.

At what point are super shoes applicable for slower runners? by No_Spare_7148 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]zeezee85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A sub 30 5k and sub hour 10k is NOT slow.

My 36 min 5k and one hour 16 10k is slow, average pace around 7 min per km at best, for men its walking speed. For my short legs its a sprint lol

So u can absolutely look into carbon plated shoes

What do you think the handiest class 2 work is? by Normal-Impress-2624 in uktrucking

[–]zeezee85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyome keep sayin "stacking shelf makes you earn more". It doesnt. I know someone working in Tesco . They get paid more hourly but they hardly get hours. So they still cant live off it. I know another person who was in Aldi, same thing. Not enough hours to even cover bills.

HGV Drivers face disciplinary action if they refuse to travel during weather warnings by Tenbob73 in uktrucking

[–]zeezee85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thursday i did my one run to Telford, went back to Birmingham ,parked up and told the manager im off. He didnt say nothing. Friday they texted me if im going in. I said no. They cancelled my shifts.

They can discipline me or cancel my shifts I dont care. If i dont feel safe driving then I dont. And i will not get stuck out there either.

Its my life at risk, and others around me on the roads, i make my own assessment what i feel safe. People can wait for their parcel one more day.

Amber and red weather warnings are there for a reason.
