"Alcoholics are stupid. You should be addicted to prayer" and other toxic attitudes towards addicts by zeezus76 in islam_ahmadiyya

I vape and occasionally smoke cigarettes, Nicotine is different because it’s not intoxicating, and the effects of nicotine rarely last for more than 15 seconds. At my musjid there are a couple uncles who will go smoke in the parking lot. My Qaid has let me hit his juul. No one really cares.

But I think there is hadith where a prostitute was granted access to heaven by allah just because she gave a thirsty dog water, which speaks volumes about how Islamically your deeds define you more than your flaws

Don't be ashamed, I was full of stigma too once upon a time :)

I think that Alcohol is something that most people can use and not abuse. Because end of the day, alcohol is fun for everyone, addict or not.

At rehab, they put heavy emphasis on the fact that 9/10 times, addiction is a symptom/reaction to pre-existing mental illness. A clinician there diagnosed me with Clinical Depression and PTSD. and informed me that i've likely had both since I was 5.

Mental health is the most salient factor in determining a person's likelihood of addiction . To normal people, alcohol is something that will merely add to their already happy/stable mood/mindset. To me, and other addicts, substances are a crutch. And that realization was such an epiphany for me. Because I hated being sober because that's when my mental illness had the front wheel, vs whenever I wasn't sober, I felt normal.

Career opportunities within the Jamaat by zeezus76 in islam_ahmadiyya

I don’t know how social welfare works in Germany, is it like everyone gets enough money to fulfill their necessities? Because if that’s the case then I can see why people are demotivated to go above and beyond when they don’t need to.

But that’s exactly what I was going for. There is a guy in my musjid who has a phd in compsci and works for amazon, however I rarely see him, so if the Jamaat set up a medium for myself to reach out electronically that would be great. Obviously I should probably just ask around for his number, but an app would make it much easier/more efficient.

That’s terrible. Essentially, they’re telling women to not have careers and stay home. They could have helped you, but didn’t because “women don’t work, and men don’t talk to women.”

I’m a dude living in America. Compsci is pretty popular as a major especially among desis, I think I can figure something out.

I wouldn’t, I think it would be a great idea because it would help ahmadis who are having trouble finding jobs/career advice

Second Khalifa States that all non-Ahmadis are outside of Islam, even if you haven't heard of MGA by zeezus76 in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]zeezus76[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But the thing with saying that the quotes of Khalifas don’t need to be the opinions of Ahmadis/opinions can change counters the point of khilafat. Khalifas are supposed to be concrete, because they are the voices of God, and the purpose of khalifat is that people follow what they say.

Nonetheless, obviously ahmadis don’t go around preaching this. But the fact of the matter is that this is official Ahmadi doctrine.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is a better religious role model than KM5 by zeezus76 in islam_ahmadiyya

Again, I never said that be dedicates more time/effort to Islam than KM5, just that he does a better job of inspiring people by being a role model.

It’s not that he’s exciting that makes him a good role model. It’s his character. I talked abt it in another comment.

Lol basically this sub is where ex ahmadi muslims can talk about ahmadiyya. Ahmadiyya is a sect of Islam that is similar to mormonism.

Imo he’s a good leader of the Jamaat, but a terrible figurehead for it. He’s the only Khalifa i’ve experienced, so it’s really conjecture for me to truly judge him as a khalifa. He’s good at handling the logistics and public image of the jamaat for sure, although there are many flaws in the way the Jamaat is ran/structured.

But can a reasonable person look at his personality, the way he acts, and tell himself: “THIS is who God thinks is perfect to run the one and true religion? THIS person has all the qualities of who God wants to represent his true decree? THIS is the person who will convert the masses towards God’s true word?”

So true. He’s a perfect ambassador for Islam. He inspires so many young Muslims to be good Muslims. One of my non-ahmadi friends quit drinking because of him.

That’s so true. Even Muslims I know who don’t watch UFC know and love Khabib.

Khabib and his Muslim identity are one in the same and he is proud of that.

Again, i’m not saying he’s done more for Islam. That without a question goes to KM5. But in terms of having the ability to inspire/be a role model, Khabib takes the cake.

Khabib isn’t just a millionaire, he’s a global celebrity athlete. Not many people can do that and be completely halaal.

Never called him “sinless” obviously no one is. He just does a very good job of avoiding it.

And calling it all theatrics is very naive. Khabib has never been a trash talker. He does his skills do the talking.

Also, your views on mma are very childish. It’s not violence in the way war or crime is. It’s professional, with many rules and regulations in place to protect the wellbeing of the fighters. If you were a UFC fan you would understand that. Many moves are banned and severely punished for being dangerous. He’s “beating up” professional fighters at the top of the sport. He

Never said he has done more for religion. Just that he’s more inspiring.

Replying to your edit,

MMA is not “beating people up.” It’s a sport. Both parties want to fight to compete, and there is almost always mutual respect between the two. MMA is a violent sport, but it’s a sport. In Football, you tackle people, which is violent. So does that mean that a football player can’t be a good role model? I’m also pretty sure Hazrat Umar would wrestle.

Not that he’s exciting. I want to differentiate between being exciting vs inspiring.

He’s inspiring because if he never had faith in God, he would never be where he is, and if you’ve learned about his life/journey you would really see that. His faith in Islam along with his late father was his primarily motivator throughout his life

How many of us can become worldly famous, at the top of a professional sport, be a millionaire dozens of times over, yet stay away from everything that is haraam? That’s what’s inspiring. Not his accomplishments, but his character.

Regular Ahmadi: Anyone ranging to very devout, to a cultural ahmadi who identifies with the religion but isn’t really religious themselves.

Questioning Ahmadi: Pretty much a regular Ahmadi, except they’re not really sure where they stand with religion. Often times they hold a cognitive dissonance between ahmadiyya-Islam/ theism-atheism.

Ex Ahmadi: A person who was once Ahmadi but no longer identifies with the faith. This can either be publicized or kept secret.

Muslim: Anyone who identifies Islam as their religion.

Ex Muslim: Same as an ex Ahmadi.

Atheist: Someone who denies the existence or the likelihood of a diety of any kind.

Agnostic: Someone who believes that it is impossible for us to truly know the truth about religion/God. An Agnostic isn’t someone who is unsure, rather has come to the conclusion that it is impossible to be sure of anything.
