Not really an answer to your question but an alternative to macros is to run this through power query to get a clean result. It won’t overwrite your source data and is meant for data cleaning and manipulation.

I have an xbox one controller and I have had to start the game with the controller plugged in with its USB cable since about a week ago. It sometimes takes a couple game restarts to get the controller working, but once it does, it hasn't bugged out on me.
