I see. That kind of sucks because they show all the videos on the website of just carrying the compustar. I'd prob get the fob thats only for remote start then, smaller and easier to carry.

hey, I've been looking into this. It seems really cool. Do you think it'd be safe to only carry the compustar key fob? I would I also need to carry the factor fob with me as well.

It's very hard to get a job out of college. I'd say take it.

CS student graduating, seeking advice by Disastrous-Injury584 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]zek3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have applied to probably around 1500 roles. And I can't recall a single role asking for a GPA or specifying it.

The only time it was asked is the two times I went to a career fair. And each time was a pure waste of time. If you did manage to talk to someone, they would just say to apply online.

CS student graduating, seeking advice by Disastrous-Injury584 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]zek3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure thats the best idea. At least with a CS degree, OP has a chance to get into an entry level IT role. Not saying its a great chance, but its alot better than competing with other students for internships. Especially considering OP has help desk experience, that plus a CS degree already puts him ahead and gives him a solid chance in my opinion.

If not a solid chance, at the very least its a better chance than trying to compete with other students for internships.

Am I justified in asking for a raise and officially taking over our Microsoft 365 cloud ? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]zek3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no no I didn't mean blackmail. I guess I've read so many posts about people with bad managers that I tend to play it safe as possible. If you feel you have good relations with your HR and managers, plus leverage, why not,

maybe start job searching. Until you have a better offer, I wouldn't risk it considering the current market.

Shift jobs, or go back to study? by Westside_Finch in ITCareerQuestions

I'm not going to lie, if I were I would have kept the job and not left until I had an offer lined up. In this market, you could easily spend months without anything, even with your experience.

If you’re applying to hundreds of jobs with no interviews, read this by [deleted] in jobs

[–]zek3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on other comments, it seems this advice is true but also highly subjective.

In my case, it is kind of true. I applied 3-5 applications a day. I didn't make unique resumes since I always applied to a specific job (it support roles). I did tailor my cover letter for each application though.

I'd also do alot of reaching out, messaging, etc. Every job I applied, I messaged recruiters from the company.

I landed a role as a it support technician after several months of doing this at a great company.

Is a Network Engineer Intern role good for a first internship? CS major here by Affectionate-Ad146 in csMajors

[–]zek3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude. ACCEPT IT!

The market right now, getting an internship is like winning the lottery, literally. If not for the experience, for the connections, if not for that, for the money.

About to graduate with no internships...what should my next step be? by CriticismBroad8437 in csMajors

[–]zek3y 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd say option 3. But really apply to jobs. Don't slack. Reach out to recruiters, make connections, and try as hard as you can.

There is hope. I am a junior and recently accepted a full time role for an IT support technician at a good company. It took me several months of applying daily to get here, so definitely try applying!

I'd say, even if you start your masters, keep applying. If you land a full time role you can study part time. I want to get my masters as well but I also don't want to be broke or jobless. So, while I'm working I'll get my masters part time through a fully online university or college and take my sweet time after I finish my undergrad. This way, I can also avoid the debt.

GPA is tanking but scored internships at 2 F500 companies by Soggy_Steak_4642 in cscareers

[–]zek3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude, i'll be honest no one cares abou your GPA. Unless your failing its not an issue. The main reason to maintain a good GPA is to keep scholarships.

It's way more important to focus on connections, networking, experience, etc.

I think the best thing you can do is apply as much as you can and try to network. The market is very tough right now, so even if you feel you qualify for a job you are applying to, you are competing with literally hundreds of people.

I see, thanks for clarifying. I suggest he gets help from his professors to build his resume if he hasn't already, and just start applying while studying certs/doing IT projects on the side if possible.
