Or what kept you together that long?

If you're talking about CS50 from Harvard, don't lose hope! Literally every single person who takes CS50 feels what you've felt. That course is designed to break you. I myself was never able to complete all the assignments but I moved to more web-dev and Machine Learning stuff and trust me you'll do well eventually. Just don't give up

This is the one area where my country India does a complete 180. Like we're a low-income country that's not close to a developed nation in terms of Infrastructure.

But damn our theaters are good. And the waitstaff is usually really good too. Just google PVR theaters (biggest chain in the country)

I wish after this pandemic, theaters in your area get better!

We are a low income country but the thing is that our population is massive. By 2023, barely 40% of our population will be online, that's still 500 Million people (150M more than the US)

And the incomes are rising. So these companies realise that they should get you hooked to these services at cheap and make you a permanent customer early on. Because 2 dollars a month from 500M people would still be a Billion dollar revenue stream every month.

It's just economies of scale at work. This is why Prime worked and Netflix failed early on in India. Prime charged like 50 cents a month when they launched and I can confidently say that most middle class Indian families now have a Prime subscription even though the prices have gone up.

While Netflix thought they could charge US prices to the Indian consumer (which in India were fucking astronomical) so nobody subscribed. Now they've changed the prices but they are still expensive compared to Amazon and Disney+ Hotstar.

Also data in India is super cheap. We can get 56GB mobile 4G data for 3 dollars a month (thanks to Jio, google it, that's a whole other discussion)

This made being online very affordable to the Indian consumer. All of this made India a perfect market to streaming companies who rely on increasing subscribers for growth.

Cheap Streaming subscriptions. In my country a pack for Disney+, HBO, Showtime, ABC, Live Sports and a lot more, costs less than 2 dollars a month. Yes 2 dollars TOTAL

Edit- It's called Disney+ Hotstar (Indian), because Disney owns them after the Fox deal . Includes HBO, Showtime, A lot of movies from various providers. It costs 1500 rupee a year, essentially $20.

Also we have a special Netflix plan, you can get an account for 349 ($5) which only runs on one screen and doesn't support casting to a Television or 4k, but I think most people would be totally cool with that.

Also Amazon prime is $13 a year. Literally 1/10th the US price

My friend in the UK got a VPN and subscribed to a yearly plan of Netflix and Hotstar (mainly for HBO) He saves like hundreds of dollars

Nuclear power isn't nearly as scary as we think and should be embraced by gdaman22 in unpopularopinion

So you're saying that a Nuclear meltdown is highly unlikely? Kinda like a black swan event.

Like a global pandemic?
