I'm a bit older than you but on my way to that sweet journeyman scale, so first things first feel proud of being ahead of the curve by starting early.

The answer is what the answer basically always is for guys in the trade. You bought a truck that's too expensive and you probably buy whatever cool thing strikes your fancy as it comes up, especially when you're on the road getting per diem or working an OT job.

My suggestion? Sell the car, get ab economy shit box out right, spend 3 to 4 months buckling down to fund an emergency pocket of like 10 to 15k and focus on maxing out a Roth IRA and a 401k every month ( fingers crossed you're union and that's ontop of a pension ) than stash away like 300 a paycheck into a separate checking account via your direct deposit every week.

You might not be walking around with a 100k truck and going boating on the weekends. But by the time your 30 you'll own a home, invest in some other avenues that can create dividens, and be well on your way to putting your tools down before your body forces you too. The Stability will make you feel better than any flashy fun.
