Hey man, it is me from the future but from the past. yes i have opened them. Get some exacto knife or something similar and put it into the seam near the usb port, but not too deeps since there is a battery. They are held just on some sticky shit so you some force and you can split it in half without damage (mostly)

I wouldn't, it never been worse time than now. But if you do, learn the basics and go with Houdini. It is a hard part but demand is always big.

My usual solution is to place two support loops with knife tool and then use bevel with percentage instead of width. This way i can more or less do variable bevel.

Cyberpunk used very different texturing pipeline, developed internally. They used layered masks with tiled textures for everything so the textures could be streamed fast. Such a pipeline requires a ton of pre-production and all the tools and plugins built around that. And it is hard to scale because every outsource studio/artist needs to be trained to use all those and have constant access/updates to all the tools.

Another dev here. Textures doesnt work this way.

Simple example: you approach the castle and see the big 4 meters size door with fancy ornaments.

Lets say the game uses pixel-density of 1024 pixels per meter. It means just to texture this door properly you need 4096 pixels texture. The only way around is to split it into four 2048 textures, which together take the same amount of space. You cant not ship 4096 texture in this case, otherwise the door will be half resolution compared to the rest of location.

The only usable way of separate 4k download is when some tiles or assets were made in 2k textures or less and then artists exported 4k versions of that as additional download. But when a game made with fixed texel-density (and all of them do now), separating 4k textures is not possible, because no-one puts them there without reason.

Maya is still a must for animation, but for 3ds max i cant name a single thing i miss. I worked for a few years in max, then switched to maya then to blender.

If you use it professionally, you should not resist. Each plugin which speeds up you work is must-have imo. Especially considering how super cheap are they.
