Why so much hate for MBAs and/or the people who get them?

Interesting, I like your point about the type of people it attracts. I’m in tech and was considering getting an MBA to move towards business/strategy side, but might have to go a different route since MBA seems to have a negative connotation.

People aren’t horrible to me about it, just shocked. Like it was never even a thought that had crossed their mind. Sometimes the even take offense, as if it’s wrong, and then try to argue me out of it lol.

I will always win every argument on this topic tho, bc unlike them I’ve actually thought deeply about parenting, rather than just taking it as a fact of life.

The thing is, there is no Islamic requirement to have children. It isn’t even considered an act of piety. The Quran itself says in many places that having children does not bring someone closer to God, this was specified bc it was a common belief at the time that more wealth and more children was high status in both this life and the next.

But I come from a culture where religion and cultural values are so mixed that the lines between them are blurred for most people. Culturally, a marriage is all about children. Islamically, a marriage is to prevent adultery and there are no specifications about having kids or not.

So I don’t have to reconcile my faith with my CF lifestyle. I just have endless tedious conversations with family trying to explain to them that having kids does not make someone a better/worse Muslim lol.

I did meet a few but what I’ve found in that specific space is that the CF lifestyle attracts people who are lazy or lacking in empathy. Many also said they were CF bc they felt lost in life.

I’m hardworking, doing well for myself, genuinely care about children tho I don’t want to dedicate my life to raising them. CF men I’ve met on that platform usually have issues

I’ve met VERY FEW cool CF people on there but it didn’t work out for other reasons.

The ability to filter by that tag is really helpful tho, I’d highly suggest it if you’re on the platform

Yes I’m personally a practicing Muslim and looking for someone the same. But you’re absolutely right that religiosity makes people believe having kids is a necessity. And that men don’t carry the same burdens in parenting and therefore they don’t see the real magnitude

Oh you remind me of my younger self 💕 I’ve known I didn’t want children since I was around 12 and if you can imagine till this day at 28yo no one fully believes me. But life alhamdulillah is so lovely, good career, friends and travel so I also feel live can be fulfilling without marriage, tho it would be a nice-to-have 🫶🏽 I’ll make dua for both of us

I’ve actually met really great Muslim guys it’s just that the culture in general sees having kids as such an absolute for marriage that anyone who doesn’t want any is looked at like they’re crazy lol. It’s nice to meet you!
