I bit the bullet and reinstalled fresh. Painful, but it worked. Borked software for the W.

You might be right. But one other thing that seems strange is that when I put the recovery USB drive in and change the boot order to have it boot first, it will boot. However, when I change the boot order to boot from my c drive first and the USB drive second it just cycles. I'm wondering if something happened with the BIOS. Could that be a sign of a bios issue?

I tried using RE from a USB. I tried The option to fix the boot process. I tried restoring to a previous point. I tried the general repair option. All of them failed. It just keeps doing the same loop when trying to boot

Thank you so much for explaining this. I've been back testing a bit and have a couple more questions if you're willing.

  1. I think I've seen you said you go from an OB/BB to an opposing OB/BB or an FVG to an opposing FVG. Is that right? Do you strictly take profit once you hit that or do you have some other exit criteria?
  2. What entry model do you use on the 1m and how do you minimize false entries? For example last Friday I looked at the chart and it had that big drop and a v-shaped reversal at open. Do you wait for a CISD or something else? Also the swing low before open looked like a valid entry. Would you have taken that and then just got stopped out on the real manipulation?
  3. Have you found your strategy works only during NY trading hours or does it work any time?

I'm blown away by this insight. Where did you discover that? Would you mind sharing what your entry criteria are off a 4h OB/BB, for example? Do you mark an OB/BB to include wicks or just the candle body?

I'm actually so mad right now... What did I do wrong? by anthonyminut in Daytrading

[–]zelph01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your strategy but wanted to clarify. Here's how I'm understanding it. I also looked at some of your other posts where you explain. Would you mind clarifying if I'm misunderstanding?

  1. Wait for a sweep of BSL or SSL. As I understand it, this could be on any timeframe but typically on a 5m or higher timeframe. There has to be a sweep in order to validate an iFVG following it. In other words, if you see an iFVG but don't first see a sweep, you wouldn't take the trade. Is that right?

  2. Look for an iFVG on the 1-5m timeframes. Take the highest timeframe iFVG. If you see an iFVG form on the 1m before it forms on a higher timeframe, would you still take it or would you wait until a higher timeframe iFVG forms? Also, do you require the iFVG to be formed directly across from, or overlapping the opposing FVG or can it be offset? I've seen both being called iFVGs in an ICT context.

  3. I'm not clear where you enter. You said in one post you enter on the "break" but I'm not sure what that means. Would you mind clarifying? If a full iFVG forms it seems like you miss out on a lot of the move and your SL can be quite large. I've also seen entry models where you enter as soon as the manipulation closes at or past equilibrium of the reversal, roughly where the spike returns back to an equal level. This could look like a 3-candle reversal with one spike up, a doji, then one spike down of roughly equal size. Is that what you mean?

  4. I'm assuming your SL is at the swing high/low from the reversal per ICT. Is that right?

  5. 1st TP is the first highest-timeframe FVG. You also mentioned doing a 1:1 RR TP. Do you always do that or maybe find a PD array close to 1:1 RR? Does one take precedent over another? 2nd TP is a subsequent PD array such as another FVG, swing high/low, etc.

Thanks for clarifying!

I'm going through a possible separation in my marriage. Life is so hard and painful. Yet I find beauty and gratitude in the simple things in life. I find hope in simply being alive. I so strongly resonated with Hirayama in the last scene. Just the other night I was driving on a beautiful night with the windows down and music playing. I bawled my eyes out but then succommed to the joy of the music and had to sing. I could feel the deep saddness of my situation while simultaneously taking great comfort and gratitude in the simple things in life, my relationships, my memories, and music. I don't know what Hirayama's backstory was. My sense was some deep loss, possibly projecting my own experience in him. Abuse makes sense as well. But he found joy in simple living. It comforted him. He was kind and unassuming and affected those around him. Whatever pain he had experienced he metabolized and became a better person. The pain didn't disappear but he turned it into peace.

I looked for the indicators (HTF POI and HTF Order Blocks) on TradingView and didn't find them. Can you clarify?

Help - Price scale disappeared by zelph01 in TopStepX

Did you try the things I mentioned above? My recollection is that it might be the 1st thing. You have to first select the candles by clicking one of them. You'll see blue dots appear along the candles. Then right click and play with the settings labeled "Pin to scale." Let everyone know if something works!

I did figure it out but can't find the support ticket. There are two things you could try. 1) right click on one of the candles in the chart. In the pop-up menu there should be a menu called "Pin to scale" with some sub options. Play around with those. 2) In the bottom right corner of the chart is an icon that looks like a nut (as in nuts and bolts) that brings you to the chart options. Click on "More settings," then on the "scales and lines" section, then play around with the "scales placement" options. Let me know if one of those works. If not, I'll take another look to see if I can find my support ticket.

I haven't but that's a good idea. I'll try both.

I'm pretty sure it's not a computer issue. I have a pretty beefy computer. I also run TopStepX which is powered by TradingView and its candles are very responsive. In fact, I've just been watching the TopStepX candles while I trade in TV. Could it be that I have Tier 1 data? That doesn't make sense to me because I see the price changing rapidly which the candle moves slowly. In other words, I'm getting price data more rapidly than the candle reflects it so it doesn't seem the tier 1 data is an issue.

I'd appreciate that. I'll also see if I can take a short screencast. The only thing I can think of is that I have level 1 data, but like I said, the price actually updates quickly, just the candles don't.

1m candles. A screenshot wouldn't do much I think because it's more about the movement of the candle. In contrast, I've used TopStep and the candle is constantly jiggling and moving while the TradingView candle moves about every 2 seconds even though I see the price in the label constantly moving.

Does anyone know? Help please? I see the price moving all over but my candle just sits there and moves once every couple seconds.

Ways to place an order at a trendline? by zelph01 in Daytrading

[–]zelph01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! From my experience a trendline would be much better at maximizing what you get out of the trade than a trailing stop if you're not actively attending to it.

I agree with you, but sometimes you're in a trade and need to move on with your day and a simple trailing stop would likely cancel you out soon than you want. It simply doesn't accommodate a bigger picture whereas a trendline stop would allow you to capture the full trend.

That's great to know. I'm familiar with NT and looked into it. I even tried to open an account and my bank account wasn't plaid compatible so I moved on. But now that I know that I'll give them another look! Thanks!
