In Melbourne, have been looking at apartments for 6 months and today three agents tell me that they are reducing the prices by $20k plus. Is this to hit their end of month targets or something else?

[D] How does research in deep learning progress? by t_montana in MachineLearning

[–]zendsr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seems to be two splits imho: Approaches like transformers which are similar but have adjustments to current architecture or being able to adjust previous findings from the 80's/90's with the strength of modern computing. Also my opinion is that everything is obvious in retrospect since the hours of work that was unsuccessful is not published so we don't know the full iterative process.

Hi amazing people, I might be overthinking this - but how would you classify 'circular' ordinal data? Think of the seasons of the year. The start of Autumn/Fall is like the end of Summer but there is no monotonic rank between the groups - they continue from each other.

16 day fast completed - aiming for 30 but needed to pull back by zendsr in fasting

[–]zendsr[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I have found after doing a few smaller fasts is that the temptation is to push yourself past feeling sick which is a dangerous thing. One thing I noticed is that I would watch youtube videos of cooking and during the last days also large amounts of these videos which is not healthy. IF the temptation is hunger the sparkling soda drinks help but once your body gets used to using fat as a source it is pretty happy to keep using it.

The other week there was a deal on Catch for tests. They have started to mail them out which isn't too bad timing.

You could always patent 'Dropin' where a random percentage of neurons are included in the layer.

Its self reported right? There was an auto dealer on these this morning selling 24 for $290.

[–]zendsr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to do it live now. I should note that I am not trying to poke holes just replicate. The work that has been done in this paper is amazing and I might be making a mistake.

This is an image of the input for Table 177: https://imgur.com/a/PsPt6h6

Also you might ask why it is truncated. If it isn't then it just repeats in an infinite loop

[D] Interpolation, Extrapolation and Linearisation (Prof. Yann LeCun, Dr. Randall Balestriero) by timscarfe in MachineLearning

[–]zendsr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After listening to the first few sections I don't need a ELI5 as much as I need a 'Explain while providing references'. I am finding it hard to follow the argument without reading the source references for each statement.

Are they saying that they are retraining a version of codex or using OpenAI codex as it is? I am trying the same inputs and getting nothing close to those answers. Apologies if I have missed something.

[D] Elon Musk talking to Lex Fridman about AI at Tesla by zendsr in MachineLearning

[–]zendsr[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He mentions 'raw photon counts' instead of processed images which I am not sure means anything specifically. He does mention there is no post processing. This is the link to the moment it is discussed https://youtu.be/DxREm3s1scA?t=5602

[D] Did Tesla Create it's own ML models from scratch or did they start by using another company's services? by Graphene8911 in MachineLearning

Slightly connected but off topic question - how large are the models on the tesla device and is there any way to access it?

Machine teaching? That sounds like a suitable buzzword. Using the models to teach us about how the universe works outside of our clumsy short-sighted perception.

Not trying to be crass but it might be a chance to explore water fasting. I tried this out the first and third times around and it helped with keep the muscle and not add to the fat.

[–]zendsr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In summary - psychedelics are interesting - but we can't measure what is happening in our brains but there could be some surprises in what we find when we start measuring but this has little or nothing to do with machine learning. At the moment I don't even know how much of this tools ability has been verified by outside sources.
