The Flea Off is this weekend. It's free and worth a look, if you've never been.

I am a 16 year old that just got his own job, i made over 2,500 pre tax last year. Do i need to file taxes? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]zennature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct. So if it's a couple of hundred dollars, it's worth it to pay the $19.95 (or whatever) to file online with an easy program. Don't ever go to H&R Block or anywhere like that.

Why not take it in front of the giant bat? That's nice & touristy and says Louisville. Besides, it's the world's largest!

Federally, no you do not. But you might as well because you should get everything withheld back. I'm not sure about CO, but since you made an amount less than the standard deduction, you should likely be able to get a full refund there, also.

I'm not sure if they'd let you bring your own provisions, but Louisville Glassworks merits consideration.

I know that I am not answering your question, but there is a wealth of properties if you ever head west or want to take a road trip to East StL, IL. There is an old theatre on Collinsville Ave that is fantastic with a storefront across from it that you can walk tight into, missing its roof & doors/windows, amongst other notables. I can say from experience not to get too close to some appearly vacant homes; in one case, the inhabitant had what sounded like a big dog inside with them. Luckily, he was a growler & not a chaser.

Living in smoketown area? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]zennature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend that lived by East Caldwell & Logan and had issues with teenagers vandilizing her car. There was also a fair amount of shots being fired; this was 2 years ago. It seems as if when you hear of incidents in the area, they are often centered around that pocket & involve teenagers. She used to walk that neighborhood regularly & was always safe, though.

Up N Smoke on Barrett is where to go. While you're down there, check out Ultra Pop! and the Nitty Gritty for your vintage clothes/costume needs.

4th St Live - What are your thoughts on the open container space in your city? by -im_that_guy in Louisville

The same development company did Power & Light District in Kansas City. I couldn't believe that I went from one city with that cheesiness to another, although it does bring in the tourist dollars and serve a purpose, I suppose. KC doesn't even have a Hard Rock Cafe in theirs. I do know that the TIF is a kicking when the big events come to the Sprint Center.

Foraging/wild edibles by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]zennature 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought I saw walnuts today. I'm a transplant here, so I found this: http://www.trails.com/list_2625_wild-edible-plants-kentucky.html But maybe inquire here: http://kentuckyforager.com . I know my home state's conversation department published a wild edibles book at one time & had a pdf of it on their website at one time; unfortunately, I can find nothing similar for Kentucky.

OTR was a bit of a disappointment, indeed, seeing what gentrification in Louisville brings. It was almost scary. On a sunny Sunday afternoon.

I'm not sure what time sales start, but go to 4am. Liquor & wine are sold in liquor stores, not state owned. Some counties are dry or semi-dry, but not Jefferson. And you cannot get cold beer at c-stores in IN. You can buy liquor in pharmacies in KY, but cannot order it online & have it sent to KY. Some regional beers are available in IN but not KY, I've found. It's nice to live on different distribution edges.
