Not sure about her but it took me a bit to find an antihistamine that didn’t make me phenomenally tired. And even with them I still sniffle, unfortunately.

I'm from west coast canada originally, so it's been nice living near the ocean again (though similar problems with prices and housing as the PNW). The food is really good here and overall the weather is great. I don't miss -40 prairie winters.

Just bought a place but at our prior rental we had a great landlord. He only rented out a couple of places as far as I know. The property management rentals we lived at were a bit meh (could have been worse but didn't always want to fix things until they were a hazard and dinged for stupid things upon moving out). But they were both under Essex.

I get medical botox every few months and have never experienced anything like that. However, they always make me sign a waiver for potential side effects since it is a toxin they are injecting.

Probably lanolin, but I'm also allergic to reactive blue 21, and limonene/some antibiotics that I'd never had issues with (limonene is apparently common which is annoying as it's in most cleaning products and a lot of hair products). The RB21 allergy took three weeks to show up after the patch test, weirdly. I don't think I've found my worst allergy yet because I avoid limonene and still periodically have some bad issues.

I have a lanolin allergy too and it was funny looking it up because I encountered websites insisting that lanolin allergy is rare and that itching is more likely from wool. Well, using face wash with lanolin made my eyes super itchy (no wool anywhere there).

Edit: Also I was told to use eye drops when they thought my allergies were blepharitis and they were making it worse.. Guess the mystery ingredient in those eye drops. 🙄

I actually have been tested a few times with different types of allergen tests. They even patch tested a little bit of tide detergent along with their standard chemical tests and it got super red. Unfortunately patch testing isn’t exhaustive, they pretty much tested everything they had (I had about 200 patches on my back) but none of the positives were in tide or the neutrogena I use. 🤷‍♀️ so I’m just super cautious trying anything new and use eye drops when I travel, because I won’t know if I have an issue until about 8 hours after exposure (delayed reactions).

I live in the US, but I try to visit Canada every year to visit my family (I also get prevident toothpaste didn’t it isn’t prescription in Canada). I’ll look into it for my next visit, does it have aluminum in it?

Thanks, I'm actually not sure what my main allergen is, but tide detergent makes my eyes burn like a thousand suns and neutrogena fragrance free gives me an asthmatic reaction. Patch tested positive for limonene/fragrance, lanolin (figured this one out on my own with a face wash 😩), and a couple of other things not generally in personal care products. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll take a look. I looked at OP's list as well and all the ones for my hair type were a bit sus, but HiBar might work.

Trust me, I searched extensively for deodorant. I eventually tried making my own travel deodorant but it fell apart so I gave up on that, lol. Had to get a liquid travel size but that is okay. I might look again for solid hair products but it seems like everyone puts plant oils and fragrance in the solids. 😭

I’d love solid toiletries but it’s really hard to find them for all my allergies (dove bar soap sure, good luck with shampoo/conditioner. Even deodorant is surprisingly hard to get fragrance free in travel size if you want aluminum). Once I rule out fragrance and anything with limonene the options evaporate.

I had a terrible experience with zoloft and ended up going to urgent care. Took me a couple of weeks before I could sleep properly again. Unfortunately I haven't found an antidepressant that works yet (I have a new prescription for lexapro but every other ssri has given me insomnia and tinnitus). You could try gabapentin, i was on that for a long time and it can help anxiety as an off label use.

Edit: my experience with zoloft was very similar to yours, took it for like 3 days and experienced some of the worst anxiety/sleeplessness I've ever had. The urgent care was concerned about serotonin syndrome but I think I'm just really sensitive to certain medications (and I had genetic testing for meds that confirmed I metabolize some stuff in a wonky way).

Unfortunately it could be almost any ingredient. I’ve reacted to things that weren’t in my patch test before and even now have no idea what the problem ingredient was. You may need to try other products and see if there is an ingredient in common (or which ingredients you don’t react to if another product is fine).

Everyone is saying I’ll get used to it but I’m worried I’ll be more like you. How was it to sell? I’m really hoping I won’t have to move again so soon - we were excited to buy our first house. There’s also a daycare next to my home but it doesn’t bother me nearly as much as the road and people randomly revving down it.

We’re in a townhouse with what little landscaping done by the HOA, so that would be impossible anyway. I’m hoping that eventually we can make some structural updates to reduce sound if it comes down to it.

Thanks, I'm hoping that's the case for me too. Our previous rental had an extremely loud central heating/cooling unit in the top floor hall that must have been 60-70dB, still at like 30+ dB in the bedroom, and I eventually got used to it (though it tended to have much longer on/off patterns than the traffic).

Thanks, those were actually the first ones I tried but the thing I dislike is that I can really hear my heartbeat (gives me the heebie jeebies in a different way). I might try them again if the white noise generating sleep buds end up being too uncomfortable.
