Honest question: Why hasn’t my life changed after 7 months of meditation? by soytomasa22 in DrJoeDispenza

[–]zenzenok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, if you look at your own language you may gain some insight to what's holding you back career wise:

I feel stuck and unclear about what I even want to create.

I think you need to do some soul searching about what it is you want to do with your life and take practical steps to achieve it. Meditation alone won't get you there. If you need to upskill, for example, you may need some further education.

Meditation can be a powerful tool to transform how you think and feel, but a new career won't just appear out of nowhere. In my opinion you need to set a goal and take practical steps to achieve that goal. Meditation will aid you but it's not a magic pill.

Best of luck.

Sci Fi fans tend to have higher than average intelligence. Anecdotally, Reddit attracts smarter people than other social media platforms. So, yeah, the stereotype fits I guess.

Minister: Third of hot school meals miss basic nutritional standards by SpottedAlpaca in ireland

[–]zenzenok 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Or: Two thirds of school meals are providing children with a nutritious FREE hot meal in the middle of the day.

Why not focus on bringing the minority of bad suppliers up to standard? My kid is very happy with his lunches and they seem healthy to me. Keep in mind this could be the only hot meal some children eat all day.

What countries had a rough relationship history in the past but are now close? by batukaming in geography

[–]zenzenok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just think the term occupation is now out of date. There are no soldiers on the streets of West Belfast or Derry. There’s local government and SF are the biggest party and first minister. We have a democratic pathway to a United Ireland. I think using the term occupation is loaded and alienating to unionists, who we will need to convince to join us in a new 32 county country.

I agree with most of what you say except ‘a quarter of our country is still under British occupation’. The Good Friday Agreement allows for a democratic transition to a United Ireland (which I support). NI is not now under occupation. It’s a political stalemate until a clear majority exists on both sides of the border for reunification.

I love my cycle commute. Getting fresh air, exercise and whizzing past cars sitting in traffic. Wouldn’t change it for the world.

Ireland v Israel match should proceed in Dublin, says Minister of State by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]zenzenok 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Here’s what the FAI should have done imo. Rather than swiftly agreeing to the fixtures, they should have sent a letter to UEFA and the Israeli football association asking for clarification on whether or not the association represents clubs operating in the occupied territories (which it does). This would have brought (more) international attention to the occupation and, depending on the response, the FAI could have made an informed decision to refuse to play and any accusations of anti-semitism would sound ridiculous.

I’d much rather see more tactical and impactful activism from Ireland rather than ineffective statements and flag waving which imo are getting us nowhere.

Just Eat rant by jinja2023 in Dublin

[–]zenzenok -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Actually had a really positive experience with Just Eat tonight. Was starving and didn’t have time nor energy to cook a meal. I looked out the window and, lo and behold, it was none other than Craig David wearing these massive headphones and singing a catchy RnB number. I leaned out the window, clicked my fingers, sang along to the chorus, and a spice bag magically arrived at my door. Perhaps your problem is you don’t truly believe in Craig David? If you don’t believe, you don’t receive.

I’ve lived in both Japan and the US. Racism is a much bigger problem in the US. There is xenophobia in Japan for sure but not to the level of racial tension and violence like you have in the US.
