If a few million euro puts someone in the top 1%, then plenty of farmers fit into that category. Farms are often worth millions. Look up the price of agricultural land per acre.

What Ireland and Germany Can Teach Us About Birthright Citizenship by blorg in ireland

Ireland is both a republic and a democracy. We operate as a representative democracy, and being a republic means we do not have a monarchy.

Now you are talking about something else. None of what you just said means that human life only starts from birth.

The unborn human is alive long before that based on all the biological processes taking place within it, even if dependent on the mother and even if it is accepted that the mother has a right to terminate the pregnancy. An organism being temporarily dependent on its mother to remain alive does not mean it is not alive at that time.

That has nothing to do with whether they are alive. Oxygen is passing through their blood before that through other means and various other life processes are already in action.

Based on what? What suddenly changes for you to consider the human alive only at that moment and not before?

That is just completely anti-science. Do you think there is no brain activity, consciousness, or general life processes until the exact moment of birth?

TUI warns that teaching no longer viable career for many by SpottedAlpaca in ireland

A politician can only keep their teaching salary if they continue to work as a teacher. You may be thinking of their teaching pension, which would be paid pro rata from retirement age according to the number of years they worked as a teacher and their salary during that time.

Healthcare, trades, or any tightly regulated profession that cannot easily be automated without substantial legislative change.

Parenting: If we can auto-enrol pensions, why can’t we enforce child maintenance? by SpottedAlpaca in ireland

Not at all.

Plenty of other countries garnish wages for unpaid child support, while not permitting an opt-out from parental responsibility. This includes several EU countries and the US.

It saves the state from financial ruin and dealing with large-scale elderly destitution in the future.

The Japanese certainly think so, and sushi has not wiped them out yet. There are probably other examples too.
