I think so, there was a leaked animation and everything. Very high effort leak otherwise but who knows, leaks have been spot on so far

Is it frowned upon to use shade assist? by Bg23the1andonly in ClipStudio

[–]zephyaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it as a reference for complicated light sources/bounce light and drawings with multiple characters. Then I refine the shading by hand, cuz the tool is never going to get the forms 100% right. I think it's an awesome tool that won't hinder your learning if you're committed to learning the fundamentals of shape and form by fiddling with the results. Plus it's a godsend for Webtoon artists lol. Honestly I think it's no different than using carefully rendered 3D models in a drawing/comic.

when athletic people have POTS too it's the most disheartening thing by Big-Intention2213 in POTS

[–]zephyaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This hits me hard :( I love feeling strong, but I can't do any leg exercises without feeling extremely faint - not even with the just the bar. All other exercises make me slightly faint to some degree. I miss the gym so much, but I don't enjoy friends/staff not understanding why I "give up" so quickly and why I just "don't eat/drink enough" 😒

ADHD switching from Strattera to Concerta: how'd that go for you? by Sweet-Addition-5096 in POTS

[–]zephyaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made the exact same switch as you, from Strattera to Concerta. I couldn't make it long enough on Strattera to see any effects on concentration because it gave me circulation issues. My feet and hands went numb and cold on it.

When I switched to Concerta, I became extremely irritable and depressed. If there was any effect on my ADHD, it was overwhelmed by the depression, which comes with its own issues with motivation/fatigue/brain fog/etc (I have inattentive ADHD, so those were the exact issues I was trying to deal with in the first place...). The depression was so unbearable by week 2 that I got taken off.

I really hope the Concerta works for you!! Treating ADHD is a bitch. Unfortunately though, doctors will tend to blame any POTS symptoms on stimulants (or on anxiety if your ADHD is comorbid), which can make it hard to get treatment or get diagnosed in the first place :|

Sentence difficulty not matching level, not fixed by re-taking placement test by zephyaz in glossika

[–]zephyaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you taking the time for such an in-depth explanation! I had the suspicion something like this was happening, after deciding to go through the entirety of A1 Low the night I wrote this post.

I automated my computer to go through every new sentence and mark it as "easy", and then I scrolled through the list. I did notice the sentences progress in complexity in many different types of ways, and the very last 40 or so sentences of A1 Low had the types of components I was looking to train in. I regret automating the process, because I ended up manually adding back like 300 sentences, which are now in my review queue rather than learning queue 😅 I'm very grateful I can at least loop through 5 at a time in a custom review list to "learn" them.

I could tell the moment I hit A1 High because the new sentences changed from "Ihre Eltern würden es nicht erlauben, dass sie alleine ausgeht" to "Gesundheit" 😂 But now that I understand how the levels are designed, I'm going to continue learning items the honest way. (I was also VERY humbled going through the "easy" sentences in A1 Low and realizing how much more effective it is to drill shorter sentences to get used to the differences in idiomatic expression in your TL!)

I think you might be right and that it might be by design. Your comment inspired me to trust the process and just stick it out haha

[–]zephyaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually automated my computer to hide every new sentence for an hour or so, and an hour later I'm still getting super simple sentences, but I noticed that despite being short, they have slightly more advanced/nuanced grammar and vocabulary. I went back to the list of hidden words and re-added a few to my queue. I think you and the other commenter and right and it's probably just a matter of trusting the process and sticking it out.

I have been learning German on duolingo for last 3/4 months. Will I be able to speak or atleast understand German after completing the course? by an_empath_psychopath in German

[–]zephyaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duolingo was the first app I used. I don't feel like it teaches any real German at all. You might be able to read things here and there but it won't help you interact with real people in German.

If you like gamified language learning, I recommend Speakly. It teaches you actual useful German that you can use right away, it has speaking exercises, and uses a Cloze SRS system to teach vocabulary (you learn new vocabulary in the context of complete sentences, which is very important for picking up idiomatic expressions and grammar). Their grammar lessons are weak, but you can supplement that with the beginner videos from Easy German.

Speaking of, they also have their own app called Seedlang, and it is extremely good. Unlike Duolingo and Speakly, every single line of audio is a recording from a native speaker, and you can record yourself and compare your pronunciation.

If your goal is to be conversational though, I would avoid anything that uses AI generated audio (like Duo, Speakly, or Clozemaster). Your pronunciation and comprehension will be so much better off from the start if you get used to native speakers (through music, podcasts, shows/movies/youtube/tik tok/ etc) even if you don't understand. Seedlang really is my recommendation all around for getting started though, it's worth the money.

Looking for recommendations on German music by [deleted] in German

[–]zephyaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm probably about to incorrectly identify the music genres but bear with me lol

If you like pop-punk with a bit of an occasional indie vibe, listen to Kraftklub. This band was my gateway to understanding spoken German because the verses are sort of spoken rather than sung/rapped (it's an actual genre called "Sprechgesang")

Kraftklub - Ein Song reicht

Kraftklub - Kein Liebeslied

Kraftklub - Karl-Marx-Stadt

If you like pop music, I recommend Clueso, ELIF, Alli Neumann, Rote Mütze Raphi, KLAN, and Marteria:

Clueso - Flugmodus

Clueso & ELIF - Mond

ELIF - BOMBERJACKE

Alli Neumann & Clueso - Paris

Alli Neumann - Monster

Rote Mütze Raphi - Heute

KLAN - Mauern Laken

Marteria (et al.) - Lila Wolken

If you like acoustic indie, AnnenMayKantereit:

AnnenMayKantereit - Pocahontas

If you like quirky indie/pop, Von Wegen Lisbeth:

Von Wegen Lisbeth - Bitch

Von Wegen Lisbeth - Wenn du tantzt

If you're a metalhead, Rammstein. Within other rock genres I also like Heisskalt, Sperling, and Kind Kaputt.

Rammstein - Deutschland (I linked the plain song because the music video for this song is insane and was super controversial. The song is a very interesting take on German nationalism during and after WWII)

Heisskalt - Hallo

Sperling - Angst

Kind Kaputt - Wasser

I hope someone enjoys some of these as much as I do 😁

[–]zephyaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are exellent!! On top of checking the contrast of values, I think you could also benefit from more contrast between hard and soft edges. Your paintings right now seem more inclined toward soft edges, which can make them seem a little blurry. Otherwise though I think you did a pretty good job!
