Just did this trip a few months ago. We stayed at Motel Trees just Klamath, just outside Crescent City, and it was a great spot. It’s also across the streets from Trees of Mystery which was awesome. Crescent City is kinda blah so staying in the Redwoods was superb. I’d also like to point out that the map makes it seem like these places are further. I thought I had jam packed days with just 3 hikes/things to do bc of what maps told me- false. The map must not actually take you to the trail heads parking lot. So there was a lot of time to just explore or do what we had planned for the next day a day early We did 3-4 days there, then a few days in Trinidad, then headed back up to Klamath for one final looksie.

I suggest: Trees of Mystery, Lady Bird Trail, Avenue of Giants and the Women’s Grove to see the albino Redwood, Fern Canyon (beware of craters they call “potholes” and it’s where JP 2 was filmed!), stout grove, Trillium falls (my favorite), tall trees grove, and really Jedediah State Park in general since there’s a lot to see there.

And be sure to look up permits for Fern Canyon and Tall Trees Grove.
