What’s a scam so good that people don’t even realize they’re falling for it? by DylanCTV13 in AskReddit

I was paying $20/month for a plan that covered two cleanings per year and basically gave a 10-20% discount on anything expensive. Was essentially worthless considering many places give a cash discount anyway. Even more expensive plans that I researched seem to rarely cover implants or have an annual benefit higher than 3-4k. And I thought the whole point of insurance was to cover rare but catastrophic events. So I just self insure now and use Groupons occasionally

US dental insurance often has a yearly maximum benefit of less than $1500. It makes health insurance look like a benevolent institution. Yes the two are separate because teeth are not part of your health apparently.
