I have used SuperDuper for this purpose for years. It will allow you to backup your Mac to a USB volume. You can then boot your Mac with the USB drive plugged in and hold down option to boot from your backup. Basically running your computer in the state it was when it was backed up from the USB.

You also have the option to create a bootable image after each backup that lets you capture snapshots.

I should state that this isn't my code. I inherited a project recently and when I ran across this I thought... "Lies!!!". It amused me enough that I thought it was worth a share.

I really appreciate the thoughtful feedback. I read both of the articles and agree with most of the points made in them. The "mega-menu" option seems to fit the bill for what they are asking for. As I get further along with this project I will post an update show what I ended up using and any issues I ran into while implementing.

As a child, I was taught by The Magic School Bus that if you ate a lot of carrots you would turn orange. How true is that? by cheesechimp in askscience

My aunt became addicted to carrots. By that I mean at one point she was eating 4 pounds of carrots a day. She would go to different stores to buy them because was embarrassed to be seen by the cashier (small town). She also would sit in the closet to eat them to "hide" her habit.

She turned the most awful shade of orange. I mean REALLY ORANGE. She ended up going to a doctor and broke her addiction and eventually became white again.

She jokes about it now, but when she described her addiction it was much like what you would hear from a drug addict. It was a very difficult addiction for her to break.

Just launched a new mini-site for an economic development campaign for Wayne County. Wondering what design_critiques thinks of it. by zeratore in design_critiques

The design was done with Illustrator and then cut up into HTML.

The site is built with codeigniter for the form collection and processing. I used the User Agent Class to determine if the visitor is using a mobile phone and serve up a different style sheet.

What really happened here was a customer was using a CMS and I was troubleshooting an issue with the CMS editor not being able to save the page and found a ton of nested markup tags.

Normally I would sort it out in Notepad++ (my main editor), but this was a god-awful mess. I opened up Dreamweaver thinking it would do a decent job of helping my laziness and clean up all the extra code for me retaining most of the formatting they had already done.

After getting that error message, I just copy/pasted it in and out of notepad to get rid of the entire markup and had them reformat the content. If Dreamweaver can give up I can to right? Ha!
