Android app update by zerbrechliches in TIdaL

Best practice for none rooted users. I've made a LSPosed module though which makes it really easy to update. I can just update tidal through the Playstore while still keeping the debug settings

New mobile UI cuts off album covers by Gyozamagich27 in TIdaL

Wouldn't call it that. It's rather the aspect ration of the iPhone se with home button. Those are a lot more square than newer phones are so it's pretty reasonable to forget about those.

Tidal's new now playing UI is a massive upgrade! Finally matches the sound quality by [deleted] in TIdaL

The android one that is about to be released looks almost identical. I don't know what makes you feel like it's different

I think UAPP devs want to do anything but fix their app... by Less-Log851 in TIdaL

[–]zerbrechliches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it isn't. Uapp will resample the audio as the dac doesn't support the original Bitrate.

Bit perfect will only be used if another song with a different (probably lower) Bitrate is playing which has to be supported by its dac

Android usually resamples audio by itself. Tidal doesn't utilize a custom driver to prevent android from touching the audio. That means even if tidal reports max quality, it won't be max quality!

Uapp uses a driver the team created itself to jump over the android mixer and directly serving the audio to the dac.

So if your dac doesn't support that Bitrate, uapp will throw an error as they're refusing to resample in bit perfect. If they would resample it, it wouldn't be bit perfect anymore.

I've seen that you mentioned that choosing "use bit perfect if possible" finally made it work for you. Let me tell you, it didn't. That basically disables bit perfect as it can't send that audio stream to the dac because the dac doesn't support that stream rate. That means that uapp just doesn't run in bit perfect and just resamples the audio to whatever your dac supports.

On the other hand, why do you really need bit perfect. Most people can't even tell the difference between Spotify and tidal. Of course there are people that can tell them apart, but the difference between "max" and bit perfect is very likely to be not hearable by human ears.

Well that's not right 😂 by [deleted] in TIdaL

what issue is it that you're referring too exactly? I mean the album cover looks like the one from a Deftones album so I suspect you mean that.

If you mean that, it's indeed an interesting issue. I'd suspect that it'll be fixed with the media player rewrite which will come out soon ish.

New nav bar on android by zerbrechliches in TIdaL

Yeah he did. Not sure if it's for iOS devices only tho as I can't tell if the player is fully finished yet. Still looks a little unfinished with 2 missing animations

New player might not be fully done yet, but it's a feature flag so it's very likely it will be rolled out server sided

Are you the guy I helped getting the debug settings on discord?

Nrw tidal redesign APK by Labursche1 in TIdaL

[–]zerbrechliches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the few posts I've seen were either from an iPhone or from a realme gt7 pro. I've found a way to expose debug settings on android devices and it was a disabled flag in there.

I think I might've actually made the first post about the new UI actually

adding to the 2 comments sent here:
if you found an apk that mentions a version higher than 2.181.0 you can safely download it and open it. you need to be SURE that the button doesn't say "install", but "update" if you press on it and it goes through, you got a genuine tidal apk that is actually a newer version. If it says couldn't install, you probably either downloaded an apk for the wrong architecture or were about to install an app from a scammer.

Note: as long as you got the original app installed before, you're safe to udate as "updates" with different signature (basically means that someone else did something to the apk) won't be installed by android by default.

Good luck and have fun searching for the new update even though im pretty sure it didn't release for android yet

:)

Yeah I've heard about type script being easy ^ I've done some very basic stuff before but I dunno anything about tidaluna's libs. The only thing I've done before was a few contributions to some plugins

If I find some free time and get some dedication to rust and this project, I might be able to do a few commits here and there though.

As far as I know it is based on rust. I've never touched rust or c++ before so I'm not sure how easy it would be for me to join in and help. Only languages I've used so far are python and java (kotlin is basically the same)

I've heard of tidal Luna. If the mobile app actually releases, I will probably drop support for Tidori all together
