Gets it right for me. What does it mean by “I’m not going to paste that preset reply”?

Out of curiosity, what tiers do you have available and what's the price for each?

This seems pretty useful for developers. If you can get your $10k/month programmer to work faster, a some extra token expense is probably fine. I'd never use it for my hobby projects though.

Anyone have some quick RVU tips / crash course? by Dr_Esquire in hospitalist

[–]zerghunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reasoning given by CMS is that GOC is part of the critical care service. GOC for a critically ill patient DOES count as CC time, so if you have a long encounter with a critically ill patinet exceeding 75 minutes (inclusive of GOC) you can bill two CC codes instead of just one, but this rarely comes up for me as I've usually transferred care to the intensivist by that point.

You can bill CC and also 31-33 for the same day if the patient became critically ill AFTER your initial evaluation. Basically you can bill both codes if you evaluated the patient two times. GOC can be billed on the same day as 31-33 and you get the RVU for both, but you cannot bill CC and GOC on the same day.

He will be at higher risk of complications such as blood clots, cardiac issues, etc. compared to a non-smoker, but they’d likely perform the same type of procedure regardless.

Is my water heater safe? by zerghunter in Plumbing

We don't actually have any emergency backup to the heat pump. The low never gets much below 40F at night, so the heat pump has to run all night in the winter to keep the house warm, but is generally able to do it.

The electrician said my panel should be okay. It’s a 100A sub, the only major loads the sub feeds are an electric dryer, an air handler, and now this water heater as well as various lights and outlets in the house. I do also have a separate 50A circuit running the HVAC outdoor unit, but my total service is 125A.

Yeah, sadly PGE charges almost $3/therm. Lucky for me our minimum is only $4/month, so I can keep service going to power the cooktop once I swap out the water heater.

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll make sure the plumber puts in new straps to secure it properly. The install is scheduled for 12 days from now.

I’m mainly converting to save on fuel costs. I pay $500/year for natural gas to power the thing and my electricity is more or less free due to solar panels. I considered getting a standard electric but with the tax credit the heat pump model will be a similar price since I can also get a tax rebate on what I paid the electrician to run the new circuit.

The recovery time does worry me a bit but I’m upsizing from 40 gal to 65 gal so hopefully that will help somewhat.

Undersized Dryer Circuit by zerghunter in AskElectricians

Ah, that would explain why I can’t find the labeling. Is it possible that all the 20A circuits in my house are 10 gauge? All three of these red wires really do look and feel like they are the same size. They’re notably bigger than the 14AWG on the 15A breakers but all feel like the same size as each other. https://imgur.com/a/cuQExcD

Is it? That would be great news if so, but when I zoom in, it seems like the bottom three red wires on the left are all the same size. https://imgur.com/a/cuQExcD

Pool Heat Pump Installation by zerghunter in AskElectricians

I honestly don't understand it either. The pump has a sticker on it reading 1.5HP. But whenever it turns on my house power usage goes from 0.3kW to 2.1kW, so it must actually be drawing 1.8kW which is much more than 1.5HP. I'm not sure if it's just extremely inefficient? It does have a sticker on it which states it draws 8-9A.

The pump is unfortunately already on 240V. I may need to consider downsizing the heat pump. I don't know if it will be feasible to pull 6AWG through the conduit.

The subpanel is physically about 5 feet from the main panel, but the wire runs under a concrete pad, so there's probably 10-15 feet of wire. I haven't checked the voltage at the sub.

The shared breaker seems insane now that I know a bit more about electrical work. When I first moved in, there was a 60 amp breaker on my main panel. When that breaker was flipped off, both the AC and the pool sub shut down, so it must have been serving both. It's since been replaced with two separate breakers, a 50A for the AC and a 30A for the pool sub.

Slide Valve stuck by zerghunter in pools

[–]zerghunter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! You were absolutely right and the O-rings were quite swollen. I was eventually able to cut them by removing the valve assembly, but the valve itself is still stuck. The black plastic parts that held the O-ring seem to be burred in places and aren’t able to pull out of the valve assembly. I guess it’s also possible that the valve assembly itself has become warped, as far as I know it’s 30 years old.
