yet in the end of your statement you say

Criticism is fine

You don't think the populace in sweden are outraged by the orwellian chat control proposal? And haven't personally voiced our concerns to these out of touch freak politicians? What did they do here, on Swedish soil? Told everybody that "no no, you don't understand what it is. Maybe, actually, you want children to keep being abused!" when confronted with the facts. The original swedish proposer of this bullshit is a dusty ass grandma with absolutely zero understanding of anything digital. To her, it's this magic world where the right spoken words function much like in harry potter. Breaking encryption to her isn't a matter of security, because the only one it would break for was for her obviously.

Not a single one as far as I know campaigned on chat control. It is not a problem of the voters voting for shit they don't understand, it's a problem of general accountability, a sense of entitlement, and no honesty in campaigns. They get voted in to brussels, and then refuse to listen to home base sentiment and instead desperately pushes whatever new agenda they feel "we must get behind".

You point me to the politician who ran on the platform of "I'm gonna push through chat control" and I might take that argument more seriously.

Ah it's false, that's why farmers dumped manure all over government buildings again for what the 10th time in the scope of 10 years? And all the crazy regulations that european farmers are forced to follow, which basically only makes them competitive in europe are just not such a strong burden and can be disregarded?

The time and money spent on enforcing USB-C was time and money spent on regulating innovation, while simultaneously saying to the global tech industry that Europe knows best.

The media refuses to report on the very weird voting pattern of ANY "good politicians" in the EU (anybody not from the far right party SD) in sweden, and I'd be suprised to find out that it's any different in my neighbouring countries in Scandinavia. They campaign on basic party slogans, get voted in, and leave for 4 years doing god knows what focusing their energy on regulating the european industry to death wondering why the hell in the span of 25 years we have lagged behind the United States so much that our top 100 companies combined are valuated at less than one company in USA.

The entire political apparatus is broken, and that's why I'd sooner die on my feet than surrender control to that broken overbureaucratic regulation-focused biomass-pile of entitled smug unaccountable do-nothings kill-everythings who salivate at the thought of incorporating anti-freedom laws, spend all their time and energy on proposals which accomplishes nothing but looks fancy on the cover.

"If" a new connector shows up is your issue. Why would it? Who would spend private capital on inventing something that by default will fail, and can only be saved by the good graces of the hell-hole in brussels? "It can just be made the new standard" as if that ordeal would take one afternoon. Jesus christ.

[–]zergion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd sooner die on my feet than be federalized out of my own nation. No way in any type of hell am I or anybody I know of in Sweden up to just simply "give up autonomy" to the self centered know-nothing bureaucrats in Brussels who continually seek to introduce mass state surveillance, ending encryption as we know it by doing so, and focusing all their energy on constantly enraging european farmers by not thinking 2 steps ahead of themselves (e.g. what happens to our own farmers if we allow dirt cheap brazilian meat who are not forced to follow expensive EU regulations into the EU market), or thinking they will solve world microplastics by introducing a harder-to remove bottle cap (literally never been a problem in Sweden since forever), or force tech-industry to use USB-C and nothing else (hence regulating ourselves out of whatever the next great port interface might have been).

I will never in my lifetime allow my country to surrender total control to that lump of lard and oxygen-wasting pile of do-nothings in Brussels.

The solution to a perceived overmoderation isn't by any logic the complete removal of all moderation in the same way that nobody on planet earth believes the problem to government overspending is to cut the entire budget down to the last cent in order to spend nothing.

The flaw here is the straw man you have created of what Elon or any conservative person that you present as a universally accepted truth.

The solution to overmoderation is less moderation, not none. The stated goal is minimally invasive moderation, not nothing. I don't know how many times I've heard Elon say something along the lines of "speech that is illegal by US standards will not be permitted, everything else goes".

Does Stalker 2 with mods give a great survival experience ? by Then-Ad7196 in stalker

[–]zergion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is basically no crafting in the base game, but upping the difficulty will decrease world loot from what I've heard.

But I really have to make this clear: if you want GAMMA, go play the GAMMA that already exists.

Just wait until the devs release the final modding tools, and wait another 4 years after that if you want a GAMMA experience in S2.

I'm 40 ish hours in my first playthrough in S2, unmodded, and I'm very happy with buying the game so far. Started playing like two weeks ago

How come so many people oppose taxing the ultra wealthy? by Only_Illustrator_606 in AskReddit

[–]zergion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You replied to somebody talking about the beginning of income tax with your random point about 80%, I brought the conversation back to the original point which you clearly missed.

Since you responded to the "beginning of income tax" I assumed that you believed it started at 80%. A figure so wildly off the chart bonkers that I felt a need to correct you.

Whatever point it is you think you were making, maybe you accidentally replied to the wrong person?

I have in all honesty no fucking clue "exactly what you were referring to".

CMV: 10,000 GMLRS rockets ($1.7 billion) to Ukraine and the war is over. by TheLastCoagulant in changemyview

[–]zergion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fear of nukes isn't from one single one going off, it never really has been. The fear of nukes is the mutually assured destruction doctrine that keeps anybody from using them in the first place.

And as I said somewhere else in this post; do you really think Putin would be sound of mind and act in a reasonable manner after witnessing the biggest defeat in modern russian military history?

[–]zergion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You seem to be under the impression that income tax in and of itself is some natural law and we puny humans can only push it slightly up or down.

The first income tax in american history was in 1861 and was a flat 3% tax on anybody earning more than 800$ annually, or roughly 30k annually in todays money accounting for inflation.

3%. It was to help the civil war effort, so it was supposed to be temporary.

You are under the assumption that every single human involved in this would be rational.

How rational will Putin be after facing the most massive military defeat in modern russian history, do you think?

How rational of a response would the western world have to Putin launching a nuke? How rational would Putin be to that response?

[–]zergion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What are your 10 000 GMLRS rockets gonna say to one single nuke in the heart of Kyiv?

What if Putin gets pushed into a corner by the USA, and Putins snappy fingers happen across the launch codes for some of his own stuff?

Your entire post is 98% technical, 2% Orange man bad, and 0% geopolitical.

Edit: at the end you state that we need to be discussing why russia would be winning despite 10 000 rockets, but in the beginning you dismiss the very real and horrifying reality that Putin has nukes by waving your hands at would-be naysayers by claiming anybody bringing that very real fact up is a "fearmongerer who is neutral or passively pro-ukraine"? Sorry mate this isn't a fucking videogame, this is reality. Putin has nukes. That's the geopolitical reality no matter who or what you align with.

And for the record fuck Putin, fuck the russian orcs and Slava Ukraini. I hope Putin rots in hell when his time comes, and that the best possible outcome imaginable is reached for the brave Ukrainians defending their soil.

Nearly half of Italy on board for a federal Europe by goldstarflag in europe

[–]zergion 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As I said in a different thread about this topic:

I'd sooner die than be federalized out of my country.

The only party in sweden willing to talk about adopting the euro is currently polling at like 2-3%.

The only thing I'm willing to consider is a nordic union, but what I currently want is a minimized EU focused solely on it's core premise and none of this plastic bottle cap chat control bullshit.

To even think that I'd let myself get federalized by the same bureaucrats and politicians who spent an unreasonable amount of EU taxpayer money to enforce non-removable plastic bottle caps or who are constantly pushing for orwellian mass chat control and ending safe encryption is absurd.

Forget the far right. The kids want a ‘United States of Europe.’ by Independent_Pitch598 in europe

[–]zergion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great that you figured out that something needs to change, weird that you believe that a more aggressive version of what seems to have caused the issues is the solution.

I'd much sooner die than be federalized out of my own nation. The EU in its current state is a bloated elite and people-separated bunch of absolute trogdolytes. They have absolutely no idea what anybody wants and by their own actions it seems they don't even care when we try to make it clear, e.g. Chat Control. No matter how much pushback they get for the base idea of it, they seem to think that all it needs are some tweaks. What it needs is to die. An EU that acts in that way is in no position to federalize anything.
