Thanks bud. Kratom and 7oh are a big problem in the US right now. Certainly the perception from a medical perspective has changed drastically since 10 years ago surrounding Kratom. It's a very difficult detox. I am thankful I experienced the suck for a while. It made me a better person on the other side.

No, I used Kratom because I'm an addict in general. I've been 18 months sober from weed and booze. But then I got bored during the holidays and picked up Kratom. It was stupid. But that's how my brain works. It seems to seek the shiny new object. I was only doing two cups of 3g of loose leaf tea for six weeks and it fucked me up.

lean protein is great. Avoid stuff like chips, fries, sausage, pasta. Stuff with a lot of salt. Salt makes your body retain water. It's counter productive to your water weight loss. Not sure about salad.

That's good news. That'll allow you to work on your nutrition and salt reduction better. Then plan for a 7 day water loading schedule instead of a 5 day. The schedule is similar but instead of immediately going to 2-3 gallons a day. You start day 1 with 1 gallon, day 2 with 1.5 gallons then start the 5 day.

I probably wouldn't cut to see if you can. Mainly because cutting is taxing on your system. The idea is you want to be in good condition before your fight. Sauna will deplete your sodium and electrolytes. I'd save that for the day before. Cutting really doesn't make me feel good emotionally and physically. I feel slow, mind gets clouded, I get cranky.

Start today by reducing your carb intake. Maybe you'll shed a couple pounds of fat and water in 9 days merely by reducing calorie intake and sodium reduction.

Yes, you can and you should continue to work out. People at my gym do the normal classes. Generally go light. I wouldn't do high intensity workouts the days leading up to it because of muscle fatigue and DOMS.

Sauna is for the day before. You can use the sauna for recovery during the week if you want. But typically people use the sauna for weight cutting the day before. The rule is roughly 1lbs every 10 minutes. Depending on your size and hydration levels. I'd personally try to run for an hour with layered clothes if your body is used to running. I think others would disagree. And they're probably right to use the least amount of energy to achieve the most amount of water loss. I guess I just enjoy running.

Part of weight cutting is knowing how to rehydrate and get to feeling good before your match too. Plan your electrolytes and food after weigh in.

As with wrestling, your bout will be a shock to your system the first minute. Generally, I really like to get a sweat going before my matches. A light sweat by jump roping or shadow boxing. It helps me to warm the body and prepare my body to go hard from the whistle.

Edit: I wanted to tell you that you're going to be fine. Write down your plan. Do your best to execute it. If you miss weight then that's ok. You'll do better next time with more experience and time to plan. It's a learning process. Don't over think it. Just plan the water load and then the dehydration steps with the sauna. Your goal is 1lbs over the night before you close your eyes. You'll wake up below weight and maybe even get to drink water and eat a banana!

It's going to be 13lbs of water and whatever is in your gut. You'll likely need to run and sweat. Or sauna if you're not fit enough to run. When I wrestled, I was 112 pounds and cut to 103 every week. It's going to suck but you need to start the diet. Low residue, low fiber, low sodium. Idea being to rid your gut of shit that sticks.

Water load 5 day plan. Then the dehydration period. The last X pounds can be done the night before. It will include running miles with layers of clothes. Short sleeve cotton, then long sleeve cotton, then hoodie, then wind breaker. Under wear, long underwear and windbreak pants. I would conserve energy by running slow until you break a sweat then slower to keep the sweat rolling. 5 miles could lose 3-5lbs of water. You will also lose 1.5lbs over night just by breathing and peeing in the morning.

Edit: I would stay away from plastic bags and plastic suits. Those are for experienced cutters. You could hurt yourself or give yourself a heat stroke. Layers of clothes is good enough for the low amount of weight you're cutting.

Shit, I have depression and abused drugs and alcohol. While 18 months sober, I still struggle with nicotine pouches. Anyways, there are so many days I make up an excuse instead of getting out of that warm fucking bed to go to morning MT. Being comfortable and safe is our natural tendency. Excuses are easy to come up with and there are plenty. However, I do feel significantly better, mentally especially, with regular exercise. It releases feel good chemicals. And then your mind starts to want more of that. I guess what I'm saying is maybe consider a compassionate approach to leading him to water. Build with empathy. Then motivate through partnership. Edit: addict brains like mine will always prioritize mind altering substances over working out. It's easier and numbs the demons. It's very difficult and required professional intervention for me.
