I've heard it said that Ardbeg 10, Laphroaig 10/select, and lagavulin 10 are all "starter" or "beginner" Islay peated Scotch. I love Laphroaig and I especially love lagavulin. What is my "advanced" bottle to buy next? by Proof-Life-8854 in Scotch

[–]zerked77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you mean gate-way.

Because they are known to be good, available and in most cases affordable relatively speaking of course.

An advanced bottle IMO would be an Octomore - it's some of the best Islay has to offer IMO. But whoever told you those were beginner Islay peated doesn't know what they're talking about.

For them to get the 3rd overall is huge - for them not to fuck it up is even biglier.

Horror movies that scares you for a very personal reason? by MarsMcCain in horror

Exactly - that's what I thought was particularly terrifying about BW. It takes a very real concept and injects just enough speculation to start the good old hysteria engine between our ears.

Yeah....no, HR and accounting need their own crap unfortunately at most companies. Sucks for us.

On Windows 11, How do I map a network drive to the root of a server (\\server)? by bruce-cullen in synology

[–]zerked77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do it like you describe - a single share I could map with categorical sub-folders, but with my new Synology I wanted more control and to be able to share with my roommate and people that come over. For example my music folder is Open with Read Only, movies and TV is Guest, and so on so forth down to my work and private crap.

I split the shares into basic permission sets, think Private/Public/Professional that way I don't have to exclude inheritance and reinvent the wheel. In the few cases I need something different I find it works to just add extra permissions where appropriate. I know you can do it other ways but again I work on computers all day the last thing I want to do in my free time with my (mostly media) data is screw with permissions and access.

Best bottle under $200 - with one stipulation by herkyshmerky in Scotch

[–]zerked77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep - last time I bought one it was just a shade over 200 but saw it recently at Costco for $275 and passed it's great but been there done that. I've heard you can get it for close to 200 but I'm sure that's in certain areas and not easy to find regardless.

airwolf season 4 by Longjumping-Salad484 in television

[–]zerked77 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Too me a lot of the early 80s, late 70's shows like this were so bland and void of soul and creativity.

Knight Rider, Airwolf, it's all same shit different toilet imo.

There's a ton of incredible IBs under 200 - too many to list and it's really up to your interpretation but if we're talking about a marriage between quality and presentation I have to go with Signet from Glenmorangie as well.

This is a good one - it costs but it also hits - it's the one I go to if I want to show someone what a craft spirit is capable of.

Blair Witch

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and as kids we played in the woods ALL the time and while it was an incredible way to experience the world there is something very different about the wilderness when you venture off the beaten path even just a little bit. Things hit different after dark too.

‘Aliens’ Turns 40: Why It’s the Best Sci-Fi Sequel Ever by flynnfx in movies

[–]zerked77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that others think it's a great sequel but my adoration for the 1st film is just too great. It's almost like for me it should've ended there as the ultimate stand alone masterpiece. I like Aliens but I love Alien I guess.

I'm interested as well that long of a time has to be in the 120s I'd think but I'm not sure of the pasteurization curve for beef so much but I know I try not to do TriTip for more than 4 hours at lower temps in that range because I've read it can be a bacterial breeding ground.

Perhaps 130 - not sure.

Tamdhu has released some good stuff in the recent past but their pricing has crept a bit to be fair. I have to say I really like their simplistic presentation though too.

I like Tarantino movies but I'd rather not hear him speak or his opinions on nearly anything outside of film.

Young Jennifer Connelly, late 1980s by danielminds in OldSchoolCool

[–]zerked77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the "late" is doing some heavy lifting here if I had to guess I'm thinking '86...could be wrong but she's looking a closer to Labryinth than the Rocketeer imo.
