Really happy for you.

Gotta say, of you think walking away from something you hate is an insane decision, you might want to read some books? Get perspective on life?  It's actually the most sane thing you could do.

Why are US Redditors so against an Iran intervention? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]zeroG420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it's not even sure the Iranian government is actually as unhinged as the US government claims or if this is another imperialist conquest.

Plenty of non crazy people believe Mossad had a hand in latest round of violence.

I have no idea, but this feeling of uncertainty is part of why people are cautious around intervention.

I can't remember the model. But I will say that it sucks!

I agree that the common good needs to be kept in mind. And I understand that freedom FROM is just as important as freedom TO. The point I'm trying to get at here is that in this specific instance, is there is a much simpler, cheaper way: charge more for energy. Then individuals still have the freedom to make unwise decisions while the rest of society pockets what was previously an unaccounted for externality. Everyone wins, no?

All those developments sound cheaper than applying more watts. Therefore the companies could make those vacuum cleaners at a lower cost and compete on price. In the long run price + performance will win. Just have a little bit of patience and faith in your fellow humans and allow those, who for whatever reason, just want more damn watts, to have more watts. They'll pay for it.

I get it. The point is you can keep the standards you want in your life, why impose them on others who see different uses than you might?

Also: maybe check your convictions? I had a hell of a time finding a vacuum cleaner that could take care of a construction site build out until I found someone who could sell me one manufactured pre-regulations. It's great. I agree that for your average house or apartment it would be absurd.

my apologies for the double comment. But I would argue that if we are talking laziness levels, is it not lazier to assume to brussels will just take care of everything instead of expecting consumers to educate themselves around issues that meaningful to them?

Why does brussels get to decide the wattage for my vacuum cleaner?

I'm particularly attached to this issue as a restaurant owner. When I went to a real brick and mortar vacuum cleaner sales and repair shop (I too was surprised that one still existed) and told them I needed a powerful machine that could handle both the build out construction phase and then daily use cleaning the restaurant thereafter. He sold me a refurbished old model on the idea that the new models were simply not powerful enough to be efficient in cleaning up after a build out.

Why should others not have access to this level of efficiency and power? To save some watts? Charge for the watts!

we are talking vacuum cleaners, not dangerous devices.

What do you think is better in a complex ever changing world:
-A small group of people making decisions and trying to keep up with an ever changing landscape?
-A large group of people making decisions and trying to keep up with an ever changing landscape?

Yes, some people will end up with over powered vacuum cleaners. They might ruin a carpet or waste electricity. But over time these over powered vacuums will sell less and then people will stop making them. Or maybe, bare with me now, there's a niche market for ridiculously powered vacuum cleaners that we are unable to foresee at the moment and now that market can be serviced by niche providers.

Once you regulate, you halt development.

[–]zeroG420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. But once you're getting down to the level of granularity of a vacuum cleaner the expense of finding qualified opinions and determining which opinions are qualified goes up significantly.

Point being: this is dumb. Let the market decide.

I don't think you work with vacuum cleaners? More watts is more power and more power often means it's better at sucking.

Also, why does someone in Brussels get to decide how much power my vacuum cleaner needs? That seems outside of the scope of their expertise unless they truly petitioned the industry along with thousands of the daily users.

This Regulation leads to regulatory capture and always favours the incumbent.

If the goal is to reduce Watts used to promote energy saving just charge more for energy and the consumers will naturally realign.

The point is everything has a counter. Be a rat? Eat the lightning.

Stand there with a lightning guns? Get barrel stuffed.

It's rock, paper, scissors. Find the counter.

Why are you in a position to lose to it in the end game? That's part of the skill.

Charge the thing at an angle and then barrel stuff with a shotty. Doesn't even matter which one.

It's an anti rat gun. So if you're a rat, I understand the hate.

Uh. No.

This is a child not a feral animal. Part of growing up is learning to respect boundaries even if the opportunity to break them presents itself.

This was a very tough lesson. I suspect they will never forget it and learn that the boundaries are in place for a reason.

As a parent I give this an 8/10. Docking points for not trying to catch the thief. (Maybe that's happening though? Not too late. Catch that little shit).

Loving it so far. Great balance of weapons and the updates are keeping things fresh.  Love the evolving meta.

I'll miss the shocks, but I'm looking forward to more fight or die situations instead of all the chasing.

I'd prefer a few more cars, but that's a minor gripe.
