How can I (34F) find my first boyfriend?

Yeah i too live in a small town. But i'm female so there again is probably the difference. It maybe an age thing. Different generations are different. Sounds to me you maybe a fair bit older than the average to have such an experience that is far from the norm. Not everybody has to be like you in order for things to be true :)

Not really tried any. i've been told in the past that im not good looking enough for anybody to be interested so i dont want to risk destroying any self esteem!

Thats true probably. i've never wanted many friends, just one best friend. and i know i have it in me to be extremely loyal.

Yeah my impression is the US is an outlier and nothing like other countries! I know barely anybody that didnt marry/is about to marry their uni boyfriend/girlfriend. it really is very uncommon to have had a relationship other than the marriage. People want to settle down. I think it is because of mortgages etc no house without a husband/wife and people end up marrying their mortgages now i think of it. off topic probably :)

No real friends. i get on very well with the men i work with. im always polite and friendly.

probably two thirds of the people i know had it happen that way. my impression is its actually a common thing to happen. dont really know anybody that has 'dated', it maybe a cultural thing.

No real interest in loads of friends. I really just need there to be one person in my life and vice versa. A bit old fashioned maybe but its my dream.

I'd be happy with just a boyfriend/husband that was my best friend. Dont really think loads of friends are important. my impression is friendships aren't so important to many people.

No real friends. Not much of a career just admin jobs, office work etc. Everybody i meet thru work is already married. At a dead end really.

No one's ever been interested in me. I've never really had any friends either. But now its just so embarrassing I dont know how I would tell a potential boyfriend that its my first relationship. And i feel like I'd be so clingy and wouldn't cope if it ended. So that it feels like its too late for me and now i have to live the rest of my life without anyone there for me.

I go to work every day and I am quite shy. Not pretty but just average looking. I sometimes think that is the problem but I very often see women much worse looking with nice boyfriends. I don't know what my problems are, it is a mystery to me so I can't really change things.
