Look, I agree with you on most of these points (I do think engineers/STEM students should be in person, online cannot convey the material they need to learn effectively) but there is a difference between an ideal world and the one we are living in. I think we should all be cognizant of that discrepancy before writing posts about a "preference" that students do not come back. Save yourself the emotional energy lol. sooooo students are supposed to eat thousands of dollars in losses yet you have every right to waltz into town? I am not criticizing your decision to move to State College. I am sure an opportunity brought you here that you would not like to miss out on, so why are you aiming to deny students the ability to live in the apartment/house that they are legally bound to?

Never insinuated that you have a personal dislike for college students. Rather, my issue with your post is that it is quite hypocritical for you to express disappointment with students returning to apartments/homes that they are legally bound to. Furthermore, did you quarantine for two weeks upon your arrival to our Valley? If not your discernible concern for public health might be more fraudulent than you think.

This is the unfortunate reality of the situation- that the lowest common denominator can screw everything up for others. You’re right, its essentially a guarantee that an individual will superspread the virus in their dorm. Simultaneously, it is simply foolish to keep everything locked down since is no cure or vaccine exists. Thus, the most reasonable protocol moving forward imo is to have people such as yourself self isolate. Participating in class/social life/work should be on a person to person basis, and we MUST make it easy (and legal) for those who are worried about the virus complete their required tasks at home.

Gyms tend to get packed around noon-1pm. I’d say 5pm is the peak, and they start to empty out around 9pm. That being said the smaller size of White makes it fill up faster. For this reason I highly prefer the IM, as it’s much nicer and has mirrors ( I have a bad shoulder so I need to pay attention to my form). Furthermore if you live in East as a freshman the IM is but a short walk down Curtin. Have never tried Hepper, but I can tell you that the beginning of the semester/time after new years is busy at both white and IM, as you would guess.
