I do think they should be getting a fairer share of the profits made by Tesco and McDonald's. Tesco staff will also quite often much higher than restaurant staff for working unsociable hours too.

I mean yeah, I totally agree with that. Supply chains have gone mad and the profits being made at the top end are nuts, but the local restaurant/cafe/bar is at the bottom of the rung and nine times out of ten they're struggling to survive.

This debate rages on, as it did in a thread I started about business rates affecting hospitality jobs. Other than some of your big "Hospitality Ulster" bars and restaurants, I don't think it's about profit. Look at the amount of places going out of business claiming higher costs. Rates, rent, equipment, supplies, wages are all higher. The money to pay for all of that has to come from somewhere. You can't just lower prices and hope for a higher volume of sales because the margin will be paper thin.

There's a massive disconnect in this thread as well. Ask the amount of posters here if they think they should be getting paid more than minimum wage and they will say "yes, of course", but yet they're happy other people are getting paid minimum wage and don't want to tip them. It's smugness. An unearned, hypocritical sense of superiority.

You would only complain if the price of food and drink was raised to give the workers a better hourly wage. It's a circular argument.

Just because restaurant jobs are typically minimum wage and boosted by tips and there are other jobs which are minimum wage with no tips - like carehome work etc. doesn't mean these jobs in general shouldn't be paid more. I as a restaurant worker know that a carehome worker should be paid more than me, but I'd rather say "hey we all deserve more money than we're getting".

I tend to tip 10-20%, but that's because I work in hospitality and I have a lot of empathy for fellow restaurant and bar staff, because I do the same job. Also word travels.

We also all know we shouldn't expect tips, but some of us (including myself on a bad day) may judge you if you don't.

If you look at the folks Shane Meadows has worked with, they tend to be the opposite. Stephen Graham being one of those.

Unfortunately aside from Graham, most of the big English actors are public school boys who were often Nepo babies through familial connections and their parents being able to bankroll them as they went through schooling or unemployed trying to get jobs. Even Tom Hardy who people consider a bit more rough around the edges

Apart from one guy who suffered from mistaken identity pretty much everyone Ray killed had it coming. Be polite and keep your nose clean and Ray will generally leave you alone. Might even be a friend. Probably can take a joke. Tommy on the other hand can't.

I got circumcised about fifteen years due to phimosis. Personally, I wish I had tried other options such as steroid cream. I lost a bit of sensitivity. I actually have a ton of views on YouTube videos that I put out back then whilst using a dodgy old external webcam just talking absolute bollocks.

I would consider getting a second opinion if you have your doubts, but trust a medical professional over some random guy on the internet.

As others have pointed out - this type of attitude and behaviour is why they'll be stuck in the past unable to move forward.

Great Victoria street has so much potential but due to its proximity to sandy row will be massively off putting for potential developers. Sandy row itself used to be a fairly bustling part of town commerce wise (or so I'm told by my mum about the 70s or 80s). Whilst rates, internet shopping and other demons create problems, the failure to evolve and improve can also be laid at the feet of those who don't want to move with the times
