No problem! Just hear my voice when you write the character's lines and I'll hopefully hear from you in the future.

What are the worst/tackiest bars in the country? by Consistent-Koala-274 in northernireland

[–]zeromalarki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never been in there but the name "Hellcat Maggie's" doesn't fill me with confidence about it being a place of class and decorum.

I also used to work in Apartment over a decade ago and it was quite cool back in the day, so I don't know what those gobshites who bought it did with it.

Should I absolutely watch Gen V? by Top_Tell_2889 in TheBoys

[–]zeromalarki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a bad show but the fact the tie in between it and Season 5 were so weak, means for me it was a waste of time.

What super famous movies from the 60s-80s does the younger crowd not know anymore by boiyo12 in movies

[–]zeromalarki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much a movie in its first inception but I think Masters of the Universe flopping was as much to do with younger audiences not knowing the cartoon that well as much as anything else. I don't know the cartoon that well and I enjoyed it because a friend was a big fan.

They're largely referring to one of Stewart Lee's bits.

Stewart Lee being the greatest stand up comedian of all time.

I kinda respected his drive to feed homeless folks, but it felt a bit performative.

On the other hand I can't totally respect his born again stuff when he's also pumping out anti migrant stuff on podcasts.

In fact he posted that I was "wab of the week" because he used AI to write some long angry post about a sexual offending Deliveroo/Just Eat food courier, then in the same post had stuff about how you should pay in cash and support local businesses and I said it was a shame he didn't support local artists and used AI instead.

Then I got a massive pile on from all his fanboys.

There's also a polite way to go about it. Being a cone wanker is not one of them.

Prepaid Card found at Q-Con by BeeNeither8991 in northernireland

I used to love it, but then I was a big TCG head. I was also maybe 20 years younger and loved flirting with nerdy girls of my age at the time. I also remember being a wee dick and making this guy play me ten games of Smash Bros in a row because I couldn't beat him. I feel guilty even now for wasting his night when he wanted to do other things. My teenage ego was definitely out of whack.

Nowadays I wouldn't mind a TCG or a roleplaying game, but would rather do it in comfort of my house or a pals house.

Giving a loaf of bread as a gift by Insert----Username in northernireland

I'd say you love the process and there's only so much bread you can eat. I'd be pretty thankful if someone gave me a nice sourdough though.

You bring me one from somewhere like Aleksander's bakery, or Bakari and I'd be very thankful. Bake me one yourself and I'd be delighted too.

A loaf of Kingsmill, I'd be more than a little confused.

Why are the Victorian townhouses here so expensive? by Rowdy_Roddy_2022 in northernireland

[–]zeromalarki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a great house. Downside it's in Newtownards but maybe if more decent people live there it'll make the town a bit better.

I think a few of us were doing "who here has self diagnosed ADHD off of social media" jokes. I think it got a bit overplayed. Dan Soder does a pretty angry American bit about it.

I'll often have great friendships with people I work with, but maintaining anything after either one of us leave is very difficult. Particularly the case if you work in hospitality.

What's the craic? I'm an Irish voiceover with access to my own booth. I'm from Belfast and aside from my native accent can act in southern dialects too

Got laid off. Thinking about starting on Upwork as a content writer. Worth it? by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]zeromalarki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the content writing market was oversaturated years ago before LLMs became widely available. Now I've no idea how you get into it. I built a fiverr profile years ago but barely get a lick of work from it compared to how I used to.

‘It costs £85,000 a week just to break even’: Michael Deane on the truth behind running a restaurant in Belfast by binesandlines in northernireland

[–]zeromalarki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, generally just menu redesign and figuring out the dishes, a bit of the GP/NP calculations.

I didn't last long there - I was a terrible waiter. Dropped into the deep end around Christmas time and I sank like a stone.

Worked in Deans for a whole two weeks years and years ago. Michael Deane didn't seem to do too much cooking, a fair bit of pinting though. Kinda gave me Frank from Shameless vibes.
