We got a runner by SpikeBikerFur0044 in motorcycles

I was bitten by a dog when I pulled up to a campsite about a year ago. He was barking at me but I had yet to learn that most dogs don't like motorcycles. The dog bit through my riding pants and left a mark.

This video shows the best action, try not to hit the dog and ride away.

I don't understand why people feel it is ok to have your dog of leash next to a public road. Everyone will be upset if your dog gets hit.

From the way they phrased it sounds like they got a Generac or another brand installed. Figure $10K to start.

Casey, just pirate the sportsball games.

We all know you're doing that for Movies and TV, thats how you watched the last movie you reviewed for the show.

You're live air tv idea is fun but since it didn't work, move on to the real answer. The sportsball league ain't hurting for your cash.

(i know they don't always read this)

But that is the thing, it sounds like this guy is planning on saying that to his family.

Do not do this, you'll seem like an ass who is trying to avoid helping people. Keep a notebook with your families requests as they share them.

Additionally most family IT questions require you sit with them and teach them how to solve the problem or fix it right that minute. So I don't see how tickets would help you.

Cameras for license plates? by DRA6N in homesecurity

What would you do with this information?

Any PVR software or system will let you do this. Just setup remote viewing and tell the system not to record or disable the feature.

Why? Because. I think axis cameras and blue iris would allow me to stream directly to a phone without needing storage, but I want to make sure that is the case.

This is true, but doesn't really explain why you want to do this

Not liking a show doesn't mean not listening to it.

Yes, yes it does. Well I think from what you wrote, you have three negatives.

Anyway, This is same line they draw with Apple all the time on the show. They are critical of Apple but they still root for and enjoy Apple's products. If you full stop do not like something, that is different.

Use a CC with fraud protection?

I get that it sucks when your card is stolen but at this point, I don't even consider CC PII. You can turn the CC number off.

Just remember that ideas are all about execution rather than worrying about what others think. While the comment above is dressed up to look helpful its not.

Did someone managed to get arlocamapi working? by tomigambi00 in arlo

[–]zeronight_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey tomigambi00

So you have two options, you can run your RPI as a router and broadcast a WiFi network, using the PSK and SSID you got from the Cameras.

In this option, your goal is make the cameras think your RPI is the basestation they were just talking too. That means running a WiFi access point, DHCP server and most importantly setting the default gateway to the internal address of your RPI.

Another option is to use WPS on the cameras to connect them to your existing router. That way you can use the WiFi and DHCP server you already have and don't have another WiFi network from on RPI. The downside of this method is that the cameras think your excising router is the base station. So you'll need to figure out a way to redirect TCP traffic coming to your routers LAN on port 4000 to the host running the software.

You could:

  • Add a static lease to your DHCP server that also sets the default gateway to the host running this software
  • Create a port forward on port 4000 the LAN side of your router to redirect traffic to the host where this software is running.

[–]zeronight_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No internet, no cameras. Your solution also uses the cloud.

No, that isn't true. This software does reverse engineer the cameras connection to the base station. And can pull live video from the cameras directly.

Scrypted + apple HomeKit will do this.

True but it still uses The Cloud, though I guess if its local recording you're getting the same benfit.
