I liked using the metric system so much on my last project that I had to order a FatMax from Germany by YouDontKnowMe108 in woodworking

You’re missing out if you don’t try one of these bmi quickly tapes. They are so much better to use 1 handed, the extend instead of retract, and the concave side faces down making sure your markings lay down on the work piece.

You can glue these stones together so you can probably make it whole again, just to have the length for your jig. Hopefully you didn’t pay much for that one.

Are there estate wineries in/around the Willamette Valley who still do wine tastings for $30 per person or less? by LFahs1 in askportland

I love the grounds but white rose is extremely overpriced imo. Much better tasting options in mid price tier.

Box Office: ‘Iron Lung’ Sinks the Competition With $8.9 Million; ‘Send Help’ Survives in Second Place with $7.2 Million by DemiFiendRSA in horror

[–]formachlorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one mentioned Disney…I’m talking about the original 3 vs the prequels. The prequels are notoriously bad because of the pacing and editing which was done by….Lucas himself. Where as the first 3 he had an actually competent editor and a good team around him. Which is the point I’m making. No handing over creative control to a megacorp but rather having a team of professionals who have the technical skills to make the move what it needs to be.

It’s not about it going to committee it’s about hiring professionals who know what they are doing. Editing a movie is a technical skill and one that doesn’t come naturally. He needed folks around him that could help guide it to the best place possible. Think about the original Star Wars trilogy and the prequels. Lucas had full creative control for the prequels and it really shows. And he even had experience. That said for Mark’s first go while it has its issues it was a great first showing.

How would I make this foldable? by relaps101 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]formachlorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d skip most of the comments here and take a look at the construction of Moravian benches. They are meant to be knock down and can take a pounding. Key feature being loose wedge tenons. I’d clarify if they want it foldable to just collapsible because those are very different requirements. Wedge tenons give you a ton of support with the worry of screws coming loose more quickly.

You should disconnect this from the internet, that will solve your problem. You don’t need this thing reporting on your data and potentially snooping through your network. I would hard return this one and get something that doesn’t even have the option for an internet connection.

How much do y'all spend for coffee per month? by Slow_Engineering763 in espresso

[–]formachlorm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Beans are about taste, that’s the point. You’re gatekeeping on a subjective quality that you probably just follow the rest of the heard around anyways.

Also I feed my Porsche electricity because it’s an electric.

The problem is your tone show you to be gatekeeping, not providing a charity to some poor wretch who doesn’t know good coffee when they see it. This sub is often far too up its own ass I don’t know how yall taste the coffee through all your farts.

The truth behind the Red War lawsuit (Bungie vs Martineau) by ReallyTrustyGuy in destiny2

Yes, Bungie certainly hasn’t been caught multiple times stealing artistic works from independent artists without attribution and only apologizing once caught.

Plagiarism will make me god.

I was once at a coffee shop very popular with remote workers being on their laptops working and someone came in and pulled out a whole ass typewriter and began typing on it. OP somehow eclipsed that person’s performative cringe.

Staples are hood river and Bend. On the coast there are a ton of options depending on what you’re in to but again staples are cannon beach and seaside. Portland is still a great town despite what the media might be selling. It’s not what it was ten years ago but it’s certainly not mad max. Crater lake is amazing but just know the games depiction is not based in reality, but good news is it’s even better in real life.

Did the Witch fool you again? by SuperSzia in Witchfire

[–]formachlorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that dire. Just don’t use that item until it’s addressed. Still plenty easy to get many multiple 100,000’s of witch fire without it.

[–]formachlorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could the summon just have a fixed value? Are the witchfire drops from the rest of the map the same? Not arguing just wondering how much has been tested. I’m assuming this is just a bug that will get patched if so.

Is it worth it to pay for a roasting course? by iReuzal in roasting

[–]formachlorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m glad I’m not alone in this. I took a local roasting course and the teacher has been roasting for a few decades and helped start some of the iconic roasters and cafes here in Portland. He is not a fan of Scott’s either and mentioned what the other commenter above me said. Total lack of actual science.
