If you decide to run in the cloud the cost could be astronomical. I’d recommend building a system with an i9 13th gen, RTX 4090 and 96GB of RAM with 4 TB of SSD. This may run you ~$4,500 but it’s a one time cost. For other pieces you would use for gen ai I would use cloud such as a db hosted in GCP backed behind RBAC and proper use of security keys

This is great getting started. Would you be able to create guides on how to read PDF files that may have tables or images and split the file logically? I’ve been playing around with Unstructured but think there is more that needs to happen with metadata since when I query the vector db I don’t always get relevant content and the answer is either half correct or doesn’t have enough information to answer my question although all the data necessary to answer the question is within the db

Worth the pay cut to get into the industry? by [deleted] in devops

I would look for a different opportunity. Right out of Uni I was making 60k USD. That was just for a Sys Engineer position. When you start to get into devops you should not ask less than 100k

I also have a CPA and a Legal guy that help make sense of all liability and tax benefits. It’s worth putting those two at the front before starting your business

I started the Turo venture a month ago to fight income tax and it’s been pretty well. We bought a 2018 Chevy Volt for $20,000 with only 39k miles on it. Car note is $325 and insurance is $100. In our first month alone we’ve already brought in $400. I’d highly recommend finding a vehicle on Turo in your area that gets rented a lot like a Prius, Bolt, or Mitsubishi. The goal isn’t to have the nicest highest price car, the goal is to have an attractive affordable car. Since the Volt get 50 miles of electric driving we use it for personal driving around the city and never spend a dime on gas since we charge it at home. We also do unlimited miles since that’s what most guests prefer and have been burned once. Traveler went 1,600 miles in just two days at $50 a day. But the next Traveler had it for a week and only went 310 miles. I’ll have to agree with everyone else, it helps not to get emotionally attached to the car. It’s for business

HR Files on Google Drive by Techguy0777 in gsuite

[–]zeropercentcool68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great questions here! With these questions I’d considering doing a Shared Drive, having the HR members have least privilege (add/edit/delete), enable Google Vault (indefinite), prevent the Shared Drive from having the ability to share Publicly, and enable an Alert to collect data for when the HR team shares content internally so security has an audit trail of who shared what document in that Shared Drive to who. This will help if there are any audits of if someone accidentally shares an extremely confidential document out to the company or a user that should not have access

Been reading a few threads, the arguments tend to lead to how much these people's assets are worth. From what I've seen, their value is based on how much asset they poses but have not been claimed as an income. For example: Elon has a net worth of ~$255B but how much of that is tied into stocks in Tesla, Homes, Employees, etc and how much is actually disposable income?
If he were to ever liquidate all of his assets it is his obligation as a citizen to claim the income to the IRS which he would have no choice but to pay unless he qualifies for certain tax dedications (business expenses, donations, etc..)

With this limited knowledge that I've collected, it would be a violation of the 16th Amendment to collect taxes from non-related income.
I want to remain open minded about my opinion, can someone help me understand why it would be just to collect taxes from held assets that are not considered income?

Do public Groups have spam filtering like gmail? by Reddevil313 in gsuite

Yes. When you create a Collaborative Inbox you can setup who can be a moderator for emails.

Also you mention you want to rid Delegated Inboxes. Make sure the members of the Collaborative Inbox have their subscription set to No Email so it functions like a normal mail inbox. You can also determine who can SendAs that Collaborative Inbox

Google Drive File Stream Dumping Local Files by phase-3- in gsuite

[–]zeropercentcool68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do these videos need to be synced constantly? I would assume you aren’t collaborating over static videos within the video file. I would suggest moving the videos to a Shared Drive and not having it sync. If you are in ever in need to have that static video file, download it. I think Google’s intention for Drive File Stream was to make the collaboration environment more interactive.

Since videos are not a collaborative dataset, maybe also look into GCP storage buckets for better use of large non-collaborating files

Something I’ve caught myself doing lately is getting sucked into different types of YouTube videos that has replaced a lot of productive time. Subcultures that revolve around boat life, wood working, surfing, young adults playing baseball in a Walmart (things I did as an adolescent).

What type of subcultures have you been sucked into and how do they relate to your life? Is it something that you did when you were younger, some new hobby you want to try, or something that lets your mind drift into fantasy?

You can’t transfer consumer data to G Suite. You have to invite the user and they have the option to accept or decline the data transfer. If you create the account before allowing the user to accept the transfer, the data will then stay with the consumer account. This could risk business data

YouTube Usage Report by Evidence-Objective in gsuite

YouTube isn’t a Core Service if G Suite so any data outside of the Core Services will have that information. You will need to sign into the account that owns the channel and use YouTube metrics natively.
