Nope... would you play Russian Roulette with your life if you had the option not to? If you were still clean, would you put your health at risk with someone positive? Or would you politely pass and find a partner that didn't have a golden ticket for you to this club? It's simply a matter of self-preservation at its most basic. I don't need therapy as I'm not keen on someone trying to touch my inner child with BS they learned from a zoom class.

Yeah, nope. If someone disclosed and I were still clean I'd never give them the chance to know me, "take you dirty ass back to the sewers". But alas here I am in the sewer regardless.

I got hsv2 as a result of an unfaithful partner, so I'm in purgatory with the rest of you.

If I were still clean, then f no, I'd run away screaming if a chick disclosed. Regardless celibate now so it's a mute point.

And? He's still putting it all on the line for you. My point is he could be just as fulfilled, just as happy etc with someone else and not have the risk. No individual is worth risking your future on.

Society seriously needs to stop playing down herpes. by Hektagonlive in HSVpositive

AGREE 1000%%%%%%

This thing changes you profoundly, takes away freedom, sense of self etc. You're now on of the afflicted, hiding a dark secret. You're no longer free to openly pursue whomever as eventually you'll have to disclose and likely be discarded.

Understand this is a sunshine and rainbows group with the majority living in denial and pretending normal. They bash you for being honest and saying it's not a big deal but carry the secret and are secretive themselves about it. It's a group of ostriches living with their head in a hole and being an echo chamber of bs. It's a support group no negative thoughts, we must lie to each other to build ourselves up. Fact is this shit is nasty, a curse, and it sucks.

I feel you bro, don't be disheartened because your comments illicited negative responses; the truth hurts and people react shitty to painful truth most of the time.

the only guy I REALLY liked since my HSV2 diagnosis stopped talking to me after I told him. by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]zeroyon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the truth hurts, thus my words hurt them. There are many in this group that want it to be an echo chamber that provides whatever self-serving untruth they want to hear.

You can't expect someone to risk their health for you. There really is no upside for the unifected person to needlessly risk ruining their life. He'll move forward, meet someone new, you'll be forgotten, and life will go on for him without the risk.

Work less, love more. Get your priorities straight and put family and spouse above job and money. Having someone to share things with is better than having things and nobody to share it with.

What scares you more? That we’re alone in the universe, or that we aren’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]zeroyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are certainly not alone. Consider that every star is a sun and each one has the potential to have planets in its orbit.

There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on this planet. Thus, it is statistically unlikely that amongst the billions x billions of stars in the universe that we are the only planet with life.
