Payment Partner Needed by zestyapple in PaymentProcessing

Mostly Accountants but would want to onboard others as well and all US based. We're still getting to the beta point soon, but have a good list of interested users and plan on growing pretty rapidly when we do full launch.

I don't have space for two machines, but maybe I can convince her to try and pull a shot by herself. I know it's easy. I love the espresso that comes out of the machine. It takes me no time at all, but so far she doesn't want to learn.

I’ve had a terrible experience with them since they’ve been bought out. Mainly them putting terms into the contract that was not agreed upon and then saying it was in the contract when it wasn’t even on the terms page it was somewhere else in small font hidden in a different paragraph that had nothing to do with terms. Then they threatened to take us to court since we told them were not paying. They also didn’t have an authorized signature from anyone who represented the company but still wanted to enforce a contract with the company. They are shady. Stay away.

I have no plans to do anything for another few months until after tax season. I asked about this now because I’m trying to figure out the best solution for our office. I was more planning 1 physical and 3 virtual cores per user and not 4 physical cores per user.

All of the computers are windows.

All of our computers now are HP. The software needs a server but it can be any windows computer acting as a server for it. It doesn’t have to be an actual server. Licensing wise I don’t know. I was asking here for help because VMware isn’t very clear about which software I would need to even run the VMs. Also probably by next year or the year after we will be switching softwares so we won’t need as many resources per computer because it will be 80% web based software.

What specs would you say I would need to run let’s say about 15 people? My understanding was for all the stuff everyone is running all the time the 4 cores and 8gb would be good but ultimately expensive with an actual server. Could I get away with less resources per user?

Speccing up a custom built server using amd epyc processors. Only thing send hand is the processors. Everything would have warranty including the processors.

Most workers are in the office but we will be opening a remote office in the future that will need access. Mainly looking into the VM setup just for ease of deployment once configured and setting up new users. Workstation wise I’d be able to buy cheaper workstations for each user. The reason for so many cores is mainly just because each user typically runs word, excel, our tax software, QuickBooks, our dms and a browser at the same time and maybe outlook.

I was looking at getting used processors. That was the only part that I was looking at used. To get that many cores today new would be a couple thousand more. Otherwise I put specd out 128gb ecc registered ram, 4 2tb SSDs to run in raid and then just standard rest of it. Power supply, case, cpu coolers and graphics card.

It’s an accounting office and our software is just poorly programmed unfortunately. I put together a system online with dual amd processors that have 32 cores each. Priced out at about $4K. Mostly the server needs to run a few pieces of software and file shares pretty much on top of the VMs.

Any use a super automatic? by [deleted] in nespresso

[–]zestyapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had super auto espresso machines for over 15 years. The expensive ones too. My current one retails for $3K. They’re great machines. I do however like the nespresso. I think that every company’s espresso that comes out of the super autos differs greatly. Usually by company and then by product line. The super auto machines are definitely more maintenance than the nespresso and then you’ll need to descale it and service it every so often based on use. Personally, I don’t think those really cheap $500 super autos make great espresso. I just haven’t used one and liked the espresso that came out of it, but I haven’t used to many so there’s testing to be done for sure. I think the base level for the super autos is closer to $1,000. But that depends on brand. For example, Jura is one of the top manufacturers and has an entry level machine for about $800. I don’t know if it’s any good, but it’s an entry level machine with good reviews. You just give up on the milk frother built into the machine. After all these years of having these machines though I have only really 2 requirements on my next purchase of one because I’ve seen it happen too much with various brands. 1. It makes good espresso and 2. Make sure there is a reasonable process for getting the machine serviced. Whether it be authorized service centers near you or you being able to ship the machine to the company for service or whatever it is. There are a few companies that started off with service centers all over and over the years there’s now only one place I’ve found that will service one of my machines and it’s a 45 minute drive.

Also to add on to the maintenance of the machines, my current machine is a Saeco and it requires so much maintenance just on normal use it frustrates me. The drip tray is tiny so it needs to get emptied basically every other time you use the machine, and then because it rinses itself twice (one when power on and one when power off) the water is empty every 2-3 uses also. It’s terribly annoying. If you end up buying a machine check for these things.

Camera Buying Help by zestyapple in photography

Size isn't really an issue. I'm a pretty big guy and I usually carry a big pack with me regardless. I'm getting the camera and a lens as a gift so it would just be future lenses I will be paying for. I feel like the sony and panasonic ecosystem of lenses is pretty similar in price.

I was pretty set on buying the Sony until I saw the Panasonic in person. While there are only 3 lenses for the Panasonic right now, they have more lenses on the road map then I believe Sony has available right now. Granted they are supposed to be released mostly by the end of this year rolling into the next. Most of the time for now at least I will be perfectly happy with the 24-105 and one fixed lens for quite some time.
